First Order Stormtrooper is a Star Wars Ultrabuild set to be released in 2015 depicting a Stormtrooper as it appears in Episode VII The Force Awakens. The Stormtrooper carries two brick-built blasters, one of which really fires via a spring mechanism.
Description
The First Order Stormtrooper uses LEGO's Character and Creature Building System (CCBS), meaning that his body is largely comprised of black elements with ball joints and sockets attached to the ends of sticks, with this black skeletal frame being covered with primarily-white armour elements. The upper arms, lower arms, and upper legs are covered with standard CCBS armour pieces, which are slightly angular and feature two small, consecutive holes each, in which accessories or add-ons can be attached. Only the upper arms utilize such attachments, featuring white shoulder pads attach via the holes, with these shoulder pads being primarily smooth. The lower legs feature smoother armour pieces, which are more organic in appearance. They thin down as one goes down the leg and feature a slightly-raised kneecap, which extrudes from the rest of the armour to a small degree. The feet and hands are all white, each consisting of only one element. While most of the model's "bones" are black, the upper legs' are grey, and are extended slightly with one small CCBS extender at the top of each. A few TECHNIC elements are also attached at the side of each upper leg, allowing a blaster to be attached to the side, as if it were in a holster. Promotional images depict the smaller of the two blasters attached to the right leg in such a manner. A few more TECHNIC elements appear around the waist, though most of the torso is covered by a single CCBS armour plate, printed to depict the Stormtrooper's utility belt, as well as other decorative markings. Three small indented ridges appear at the top corners of this armour piece, adding a small amount of additional three-dimensional detail. The Stormtrooper also features a small amount of back armour, in the form of two small, white CCBS armour pieces at the top, one on each side. His headpiece is also attached via ball joint, and features a specially-moulded helmet.
The Stormtrooper also features two blasters. The smaller of the two is comprised almost entirely of black and dark stone grey TECHNIC elements. The larger blaster is built to fire two transparent-red missile pieces, one of which is inserted in the spring-powered launcher, and the other of which rests in a TECHNIC element at the side of the blaster. Most of the blaster's exterior is taken up by a large, black TECHNIC elements, which features two holes at the top near the front, as well as four separate slots for TECHNIC pins/axles at various positions on its sides. The interior is, conversely, largely taken up by the launching mechanism. While the blaster features multiple additional black, white, and dark stone grey TECHNIC elements, as well as a few red TECHNIC pins, it also utilizes multiple System pieces at the bottom of the blaster, towards the front, where the spring-powered launching mechanism (also a System piece) is positioned. These system pieces, with the exception of the launching mechanism, are all white and small. The launching mechanism, on the other hand, is large and features different grey shades.
Background
First Order Stormtroopers serve as soldiers in the First Order, the successor to the Empire in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. This makes their role similar to that of the original Stormtroopers serving the Empire. Finn, one of the main characters of the film, is one of these First Order Stormtroopers.
Notes
- Another set of a similar scale and premise, 8008 TECHNIC Stormtrooper from the year 2001, also depicts a Stormtrooper who's main play feature is a really-firing blaster, though the model is made almost entirely of TECHNIC elements.
- The set will be numbered between 75113 and 75118.[1]
