Requests: Chat Moderator - Administrator - Bureaucrat - Patroller

This is Brickipedia's requests for adminship page, on which any user may request administrator rights. Administrators have many technical abilities that are used for the maintenance and upkeep of Brickipedia, and a full list of all of the user rights that they have access to can be found at Special:ListGroupRights.

While being an administrator may seem "fun" or "cool", you should consider whether or not you actually have a use for sysop rights before filing a request. Administrators should be active users on Brickipedia with a few thousand contributions who have a good understanding of policies and community discussions here. While being an administrator is not a big deal, it is a significant time commitment, and takes a lot of work. If you are considering nominating yourself for adminship, please read through the checklist to make sure that you meet the criteria.

To file a request, place the following code under the "current requests" header, above any existing requests.

There is an archive here for adminship requests.

Requests made on this page are a vote, meaning that if they achieve at least 80% support then they will be closed as successful. Opposers must provide reasons for opposing. All request will last a minimum of two weeks.

If a user has been nominated for adminship before, add 2 to the end of the topic header. For users with multiple requests, add the respective number of the request. It is also considered good practice to link to previous requests for rights when nominating a user.

I believe I could use these rights. I have over 2,000 edits and I (modestly) make good contributions. Never before have I been blocked, banned or kicked. I've encountered spammers and vandals and I think I could handle them better if I had the rights to do it. I realize some may think I don't have the experience or number of edits required for this role, but I'll give it a try.

  1. Just needs a bit more experience, and some more edits, and I'd support. --User:CzechMate/czech 03:13, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Per Czech. I would absolutely love to support him, but I just can't. User:1999bug/sig1 03:21, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Per Czech. Wait until six months at the very least. User:Cligra/Sig
  4. Per Bug. I am so torn, I want to support desparately, but I know it wouldn't be the right thing to do. Just wait a couple of months (5 or 6), keep editing, and keep a good attitude and you have my FULL support. User:Darth henry/Sig 04:07, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
  5. Per Darth :) User:LSCStealthNinja/RealSig
  6. Per Darth :) User:Legoboy9373/sig 07:03, 9 August, 2012 (UTC)
  7. Per all, need to get a bit more familiar with the wiki's systems and the users on Brickipedia. -User:Power Jim/sigcode 12:15, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
  8. So good but not so much expierience. Wait at least 6-8 months and then I will support you fully. :) klagoer 15:01, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
  9. Although the very small part of me which likes to try and get on and be nice to people feels bad about opposing and not going at least neutral, per Czech/Darth/Jim. ~ CJC 15:37, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
  10. You're on the right track, but per others. Berrybrick 16:32, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
  11. Sorry,per all. User:Irnakk/sig
  12. He's a great user and a great friend, but per all. User:Munchman14/sig
  13. More experience needed, sorry. User:Ajraddatz/sig 20:34, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

Comments

  • I haven't seen the user enough yet to make a decision, but one thing I would like to point out is that 3.5 months is a very short time to be given adminship in. So experience. (if that even makes sense.) User:Captain Jag/sig1 03:15, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
  • Neutral. I'd really like to support- yes, Jeyo hasn't been around for very long, but this user seems to make less mistakes than some users who have been around for a very long time, and seems to have caught on to the system here much quicker than most. The only thing holding me back from supporting is to do with the length of time- I'd just like to be certain that there's a good chance that Jeyo will be staying around for a while (which would be something that would seem more likely the longer they stay with us). Too many "admins" have disappeared right after getting adminship for me to not be a bit worried by that kind of thing for every nom. (Also, minor point, but some more forum participation might be good too, not heaps, but just every so often) NovaHawk 23:21, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

I have been on Brickipedia for nearly three years now. I have seen good editors come and go, and some bad ones as well. I dislike vandalism, and when I see it I revert it. So now (for the first time since February 2011) I am requesting adminship on our wiki.

I read through the checklist and this is what it said. Have you been on Brickipedia for more than a few months, and made a few thousand contributions to articles here? Yes, I have. I have been here for almost three years (as I stated above) and I have made over eight thousand edits since I joined. Do you regularly participate on the forums? Uh…sort of. I have said some things on the forums recently, but I'm more of an editing person than a talking person on Brickipedia. Do you revert vandalism when you see it, or tag pages for deletion? Yes I do. I have reverted/deleted/rollbacked/removed over one hundred cases of vandalism, including tracking down at least one vandal spree. I also tag pages for deletion when I think they aren't needed, and if I don't know what to do, I ask. Are you bothered? I am bothered when I see pages with missing punctuation incorectly spelled wurds and small fixes needed. Yes. I am bothered. (Yes I know I'm breaking grammatical rules in this answer!)

So what do you think? Do I deserve the rights or not? (Don't answer that.) Though I would like you to all approve of my request, I hope you realise that I won't hold anything against you if you decide to oppose.

  1. User:Irnakk/sig2
Please give a reason for your support. klagoer 17:29, August 11, 2012 (UTC)
  1. I understand that you only get two hours a week, and I think that if you left for a year and came back, requesting rights, my answer would be different. But you are dedicated and sure to be able to benefit from these rights. So I supportUser:Sonofhades101/signature 22:14, August 16, 2012 (UTC)Sonofhades101
  2. Support Per CJC's below comment. User:Darth henry/Sig 23:24, August 16, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Sure, if you agree to give up the flag upon going inactive. User:Ajraddatz/sig 20:36, August 20, 2012 (UTC)
  4. 72% support. Can definitely be trusted with the tools. The only thing holding me back from fully supporting is the level of activity, but he has had periods of inactivity and always returned. And if he does permanently vanish off into the sunset like some of the other people have after getting admin rights, I can always ask Jag to hit him over the head or something :P NovaHawk 08:48, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose

  1. I'm wary of this user's activity, and I don't want an inactive/very very semi-active admin, sorry, but that's just me/ --User:CzechMate/czech 01:04, August 11, 2012 (UTC)

Comments

  • Neutral for now- increase the amount of activity, and I may support. But, per Czech, I am wary of people with relatively little recent activity requesting adminship. User:Cligra/Sig
  • Per Cligra. ~ CJC 10:35, August 11, 2012 (UTC)
  • Per Cligra. klagoer 15:37, August 11, 2012 (UTC)
  • Per all. User:Munchman14/sig 16:21, Auguast 11, 2012 (UTC)
  • Per Cligra. User:Darth henry/Sig 17:28, August 11, 2012 (UTC)
  • Is 'activity' the only problem with my request? I am trying to upgrade the level of activity on Brickipedia, but I only have two hours a week to work on Brickipedia, unless I can earn some more time. User:Agent Fuse/sig 08:44, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
    • If that is the case, its not so much a problem, its just we've had users who have been inactive, came back, request admin, we all go "I remember you, have admin", then they leave again. So, I'd support on a condition that if you go properly inactive within a few months of the request (not just like on holiday or what not), then you are fine with it possibly being removed. ~ CJC 09:25, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
      • Per the above, I'd go neutral for several reasons; I don't know the user that well, very semi-active and doesn't have too much need for the tools. I won't oppose him simply because this is an experienced user who not only hasn't ever done anything wrong, but also has made a fair amount of contributions made overtime. -User:Power Jim/sigcode 09:59, August 19, 2012 (UTC)
I personally understand that time may be an issue, but being an administrator is a commitment. If you really don't have the time for it, I don't know if you would be right for the position. User:Munchman14/sig
@CJC: I would agree to that proposal. @Munchman: It's not my choice to have that amount of time. My parents decided on it, and while I sometimes earn more, I think it is sufficient to keep up a good amount of edits. I had been using the time working on several LDD models, mostly the entry in the monthly MOC competition. User:Agent Fuse/sig 08:11, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
I'm his brother, and I can confirm he's not about to go inactive. User:Captain Jag/sig1 08:15, August 14, 2012 (UTC)
  • So this is ending today. As Cligra requested, I increased the amount of activity. CJC, Klagoer, Darth Henry and Munchman14, you said the same thing as Cligra. What do you think? Have I been active enough?

This time probably isn't a good time to request adminship, as everyone would have been competing in the Olympics and Celebration VI and wouldn't have time to look at this. But if you do, please say something. Something that I can do to make you support. {:) User:Agent Fuse/sig 08:43, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
