Requests: Chat Moderator - Administrator - Bureaucrat - Patroller

This is Brickipedia's requests for chat moderator page, on which any user may request chat moderator rights. Chat moderators have the ability to kick and ban users from chat who are being disruptive.

If you are considering nominating yourself for chat moderator, please read through the checklist to make sure that you meet the criteria.

To file a request, place the following code under the "current requests" header, above any existing requests.

===replace this with your username===
{{Rfr/1|replace this with your username}}
replace this with a brief paragraph about why you want to be nominated. ~~~~

Requests made on this page are a vote, meaning that if they achieve at least 80% support then they will be closed as successful. Opposers must provide reasons for opposing. Most requests last for around a week, unless there is clear consensus either way after a short period of time.

If a user has been nominated for chat moderator before, add 2 to the end of the topic header. For users with multiple requests, add the respective number of the request. It is also considered good practice to link to previous requests for rights when nominating a user.

Thorin II Oakenshield

Thorin II Oakenshield (Talk - Contribs - Block/rights logs - Logs) - ( edits, 0 mainspace)

I am very mature on chat, have made 100+ Mainspace edits, and know what goes on around here (Maybe a little TOO much :P). There is nothing much else to say. So I am going to end it here. Thorin, At your service! 04:23, December 27, 2012 (UTC)

  1. He is on chat a lot, and he has been there without any moderators when there has been a vandal. I think that these rights would be very useful for him. Full Support.Agent Charge Are you in? 06:11, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
  • Heck, so have I. And I'm not the only one. --LEGO2013Helper (talk) 18:15, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
  1. The fact that he reads the logs makes me feel he is ready for any situation that could appear on chat. Per charge, Full Support User:LazerzSoH/signature
  2. If you aren't trying to hide anything, then him reading the logs is fine User:Darth henry/Sig 16:13, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
  3. While what Jeyo said did waver my confidence in my decision a bit, my overall opinion of Thorin being a nice, mature user overweighs that point, so support. And about the chat log things: I don't see how that affects modship in any way. He'll still be reading the logs regardless. Denying him the rights won't do anything to change that. In other words, if you're concerned about him reading the logs, then talk to him about that and don't express your opinion in this way! And if you think the fact that him "stalking" you means that you simply aren't comfortable with him having the rights, I have to ask you, how serious could any power abuses on his part be and, more importantly, HOW ARE THE ABILITIES WE'D BE GRANTING HIM RELATED TO HIM READING THE LOGS?! User:BrickfilmNut/sig
  4. Seems respectable LMFS (talk) 00:39, December 28, 2012 (UTC) (User is sockpuppet of the user requesting)
  5. I have only read this page about him, he seems well liked, made 100 Mainspace edits, and is being more mature then some mods here. This stalker thing is COMPLETELY immature. Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon (talk) 00:42, December 28, 2012 (UTC) (User is a sockpuppet of the user requesting)

Neutral

  1. I don't know. On one hand, he seems mature and has encountered spammers before. But on the other, he seems to want the position of Chat Mod very, very badly, more than most users. When told he had to make 100 mainspace edits before requesting again, he went around making one word edits that, while not bad, weren't that good either. He made the edits solely for the purpose of achieving Chat mod, it seems, as he previously stated that he "probably won't edit the wiki for a long time". There's also something else that makes me uneasy. I don't know what it is and I could be completely wrong, but it's just a gut feeling. So...yeah. Jeyo Lord VladekTalk The Forge 06:57, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
  • I don't want mod rights THAT bad, but I think I deserve them. If I wanted to have them bad I would probably request them daily. Thorin, At your service! 16:38, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
And As for the one-word edits, I was fixing the grammar so they would be more understandable, and I edit because I want to, not for Chat-Moderator Desire, if that were the reason, I would have stopped at 100. Thorin, At your service! 16:48, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
That is a good point (the fact that he didn't stop). User:BrickfilmNut/sig
As for what I stated earlier, the not editing thing, I saw LOTS of pages that needed some editing, and decided to edit. I also said Probably. Thorin, At your service! 00:36, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
If all Thorin wants to do on Brickipedia is go on chat, what is the problem with that? He went and made the 100 edits, and didn't just stop, showing that he does want them, and is willing to do work for them. Yes, some of his edits may not have been all that helpful, but how can you expect him to make perfect edits all along. After first joining, I was a sort of vandal (Although at the time I didn't know what what I was doing was bad), but now, a few years later, I'm an admin. Maybe later Thorin will be one of the main Brickipedians on the wiki. Who but God knows? I think that is good that he went and made the required edits–he wants the rights. Does it really matter the time that he did that edits in? If I wanted the rights, but didn't have the qualifications, I would probably do the same thing. Wouldn't you? And about reading the chat logs, isn't that what they're there for??????Agent Charge Are you in? 00:31, December 31, 2012 (UTC)

  1. I already feel stalked when he reads every log of chat, which he says he's reading them all the time. For a MODERATOR to read the log every day, that just freaks the crap out of me. User:Awesomeknight1234/SigbyCP(Vote struck, see comments)
Why should it? There isn't anything wrong with it, technically. Jeyo Lord VladekTalk The Forge 04:28, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, he can read them, but for him to shout it out loud is kind of making me feel stalked. User:Awesomeknight1234/SigbyCP
So a non-mod can read the logs every day, but as soon as they become a moderator, that is just wrong. ~ CJC 11:30, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
No, he can read it, but he doesn't need to shout it out loud in chat. User:Awesomeknight1234/SigbyCP
I don't "Shout it out loud in chat". Thorin, At your service! 16:53, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, you do. One day you came and said "Hello! I'm going to read the logs now!". I fell that you came just to say that as you didn't say anything else after that. User:Legoboy9373/sig 10:46, January 2, 2013 (UTC)
  2. I really think the user needs more time here. I know there isn't anything wrong with it - but it is really odd that he reads logs and enjoys them, I just don't like him reading stuff from before he joined. A month or two, and I'd probably support. Per Jeyo, too. --User:CzechMate/czech 06:41, December 27, 2012 (UTC)

  5. No Because when i see him he is on the Chat for maybe 30 - 60 minutes a day, and most Chat Mods are on 2 - 15 hours a day RaceLord talk, Time To Craft Some...Thing.
    • I'm not. It's more like a half hour for me... User:Darth henry/Sig 16:14, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
If mods really were on 15 hours a day, That would be sad. Thorin, At your service! 16:45, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
Well not 15, but I stay at least for 1 or 2, and sometimes a lot more. User:Legoboy9373/sig 10:49, January 2, 2013 (UTC)
  6. He seems like a kind of nice user but the way he reads the logs and likes to tell us stuff that he shouldn't even know that he's learnt from reading them makes me think that he's not mature enough to be a chat mod, if he were to read the logs and not be creepy about it I might support. Clone gunner commander jedi talk
    • CGCJ, I do not "Like to post what I read" I did ONE time when I was new. Thorin, At your service! 00:38, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
  7. I might have voted support had I not read Jeyo's neutral vote. -User:Nerfblasterpro/sig1 14:40, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
  8. Per Czech and NBP. I don't trust the guy seeing that he WANTS to be a chat mod and reads logs, gives me the creeps, so until it's confirmed that he is an normal guy who is actually a fan and not a stalker, I say nay.-User:Jedi master sith/sig(Vote struck, see comments)
    • I am a LEGO Fan, not a stalker, and if I did not want the rights, why am I running? Why did ANYONE run if they did not want the rights? Thorin, At your service! 17:31, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
      1) I still don't know if you're a stalker or not, liars lie. 2) most of the time people are nominated because the deserve/earned it, not want it.-User:Jedi master sith/sig
  9. Per Czech and Clone. --LEGO2013Helper (talk) 18:16, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
  10. Though, I do not know him to well, I will say I don't think a "mature" chat-mod needs to question or make comments when it comes to opposes. I would support but I have read other opposes/neutrals and I think these people have a point (And no I don't care he reads the logs). Also after had reading Jeyo's great input, I will say Oppose. klagoer 01:16, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
  11. Per NBP and Klagoer's first sentence. Berrybrick 00:30, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

Comments

  • Really, I don't know whether to scold or laugh at this "stalking" business. He was not stalking you. I read the chat logs often as well, actually. Was he asking for your name or personal info? Because that's what I call stalking, not reading the logs and telling everyone about it. File:EyerollEmote.gif Jeyo Lord VladekTalk The Forge 07:13, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
And even then, I don't tell people what I read. I did one day, but not anymore. Thorin, At your service! 16:52, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
  • I'm laughing because of how terrible these opposes are. Reading chat logs =/= stalking? You all know that whatever you post on chat will end up in the logs, and that anyone can read them. The fact someone is reading them doesn't make them the one at fault. If you are worried about what he might read in the logs, then be more careful about what you post on chat... ~ CJC 11:29, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
NBP actually had a good reason to oppose. Thorin, At your service! 16:39, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
    When I wrote this, NBP hadn't opposed... ~ CJC 18:11, December 27, 2012 (UTC)
  • Per Jeyo and CJC. If he specifically went after you and then asked for personal info, that's stalking. User:LazerzSoH/signature
  • Note - if another admin disagrees, feel free to undo my strikes, but for the record, I've struck the opposes that basicly just say "He reads logs, therefore he is a stalker". Unless you have actual proof for him being a stalker, I fail to see how him reading the chat logs can be considered a valid reason to oppose. ~ CJC 18:23, December 27, 2012 (UTC)

And also -- per DH and CJC. If people are getting freaked out by the fact that he reads the logs, then logic dictates there's a reason. What are people saying on chat that they don't want everyone to know? Just something to think about. Jeyo Lord VladekTalk The Forge 19:06, December 27, 2012 (UTC)

  • I'm finding his replies to users opposes rather immature, just the way it seems like he's whining or trying to argue a point that's not needing to be argued. Clone gunner commander jedi talk
It was neither whining or arguing a point, I was just stating what actually happened, some things were either misstated, or misunderstood. Thorin, At your service! 23:35, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

Hi Strike Laser

Hi Strike Laser (Talk - Contribs - Block/rights logs - Logs) - (24 edits, 2 mainspace)

Let's face it: I'm a newb. I am. But I edit roughly 50 a day, and have never been kicked, banned, or even said a single bad thing, whether to a user. Some people don't trust newbs, but let's face it: I'm nice, fun, and definitely not going to yell :) Don't judge a book by its cover :)

  2. You joined Bricki less than 48 hours ago. YOu made most of your edits today, usually adding 1 or two words/removing 1 or 2 words to a page. Sorry. Try again in a few months. --LEGO2013Helper (talk) 02:19, January 2, 2013 (UTC)

He actually didn't meet the required 100 mainspace edits. . . Try reapplying in around 1-3 months, you'll have a better chance then. :) Klintrin--Talk--Contributions

  • Perhaps while I was on an absence I didn't get this memo, but according to thsi page, Brickipedia:User rights/Requests, you don't need to have any edits and you must be on the wiki for at least 10 days. Normally, I would close this but since I am not sure about this is that, opposes don't have anything to do with requirements, and user doesn't even meet requirements. If I could have someone confirm this for me that would be great. klagoer 02:31, January 2, 2013 (UTC)

  • Well, I've read everything I can find about this on the wiki, but my knowledge remains the same. :P Basically, chatmods are there to ensure that chat is free of vandalization, spam, and controversial/hurtful remarks. For example, some of chat's rules include no talking about religion, minimal use of caps Caps, no swearing, etc., and, overall, respectful behavior. If these requirements are not met by one or more users, chat mods have several options. The best option is warning, where the mod states what the trouble-maker is doing wrong and informs them about the consequences if they continue while asking them respectfully to stop. The next two options should be used sparingly; kicking kicks the targeted user from chat, and if they keep returning and causing trouble, a ban is used. If there's anything I missed, please let me know and I'll try my best to research it (a link to a page to read would also be helpful). :) User:BrickfilmNut/sig
