Brickipedia:Requests for Chat Moderator
|
Requests: Chat Moderator - Administrator - Bureaucrat - Patroller |
This is Brickipedia's requests for chat moderator page, on which any user may request chat moderator rights. Chat moderators have the ability to kick and ban users from chat who are being disruptive.
If you are considering nominating yourself for chat moderator, please read through the checklist to make sure that you meet the criteria.
To file a request, place the following code under the "current requests" header, above any existing requests.
===replace this with your username===
{{Rfr/1|replace this with your username}}
replace this with a brief paragraph about why you want to be nominated. ~~~~

Requests made on this page are a vote, meaning that if they achieve at least 80% support then they will be closed as successful. Opposers must provide reasons for opposing. Most requests last for around a week, unless there is clear consensus either way after a short period of time.
If a user has been nominated for chat moderator before, add 2 to the end of the topic header. For users with multiple requests, add the respective number of the request. It is also considered good practice to link to previous requests for rights when nominating a user.

Never have I ever seen someone more mature and friendly on chat (except maybe Meiko when he first joined :P ). He's been here more than a year, he's on chat a lot, clearly knows the rules, makes good, needed edits, and is just simply dedicated, mature, and worthy of a few extra buttons to make this chat a better place. - He's been making great edits recently, but I haven't seen him on chat but a few times. I think he should start with patroller/rollback rights here, honestly, but I'm certainly not going to oppose if he feels he's ready for chat moderator. --ToaMeiko (talk) 18:57, August 1, 2013 (UTC)

- Tbh, the rules regarding RfR's could probably do with centralising and sorting, as people keep citing rules I thought we'd never had/dropped a year ago, etc. ~ CJC 21:18, August 1, 2013 (UTC)
- I agree, another rule being the 80% support, since I've seen people recently get them for just having over 50% I think. --ToaMeiko (talk) 21:25, August 1, 2013 (UTC)
- I thought we stopped using that in maybe 2011 or early 2012, when there was a big push on consensus, I didn't realise it still said it at the top of the page. I think 80% is a rather arbitrary target to be fair. If I have to close stuff, and it is not clear cut, I'd just take into accounts reasons for opposes and supports and judge it on that. (or, UCS.) Anyway, this is something that belongs on a forum and not here, so I guess we should stop discussing it here :P ~ CJC 21:32, August 1, 2013 (UTC)
- I was ignoring this discussion before, until I read that the 80% rule wasn't still in place. When I only had like 1 opposer and 6 supporters before CGCJ came in, I asked Ajr about that rule, because if that wasn't in place that meant it was successful. He said it was still in place, and that when I got 80% I could contact him and I'd get the rights. (note that I'm not asking for anything, I'm just pointing it out) MsDtalk 21:42, August 1, 2013 (UTC)

I think I should be a Chat Mod because I am on chat a lot and many users have said that I am responsible and fit for the job. So I thought I should request it.

- Brix is a shining example of an active, appropriate user in the Brickipedia community. I've never seen him act out, disrespect another individual, or cause moderators or admins any trouble. However, I have not seen him in chat as much as I think he should be to have chat moderator rights. I have been away for a week though, so I'm not sure how things have been during that time. I would like to see one thing from Brix though, that being enforcing the policy. He does a great job following it, and if he has the ability to correctly enforce it, he'd be a great moderator. Leaning towards support. --ToaMeiko (talk) 20:54, August 17, 2013 (UTC)

- I wouldn't say that's necessarily a reason. I don't think you're ready yet. --- Sci (talk) 16:15, August 10, 2013 (UTC)
- Not ready- though I respect your feelings that you want to be a chat mod, you seem like a fit person for the job but that's not the reason I'm opposing. Being a chat mod is about being there anytime you can. We barely see you on chat unless you want to bring something towards our attention. So I believe that if you are on chat more over the course of the next few days and promise to dedicate some time everyday to patrol chat. I might change my opinion. Thinking with Bricks! 16:27, August 10, 2013 (UTC)NuffSaid
- Sorry, I just don't think you're ready. You should be on Chat a little more, and per Nuff, you should be on Chat to patrol as a Moderator, not just to show us something. Maybe in a couple months I'll change my opinion. User:LSCStealthNinja/RealSig 16:31, August 10, 2013 (UTC)
- As per others, I know you'll be ready soon enough, just not yet. Per Nuff really. -User:Nerfblasterpro/sig1 16:38, August 10, 2013 (UTC)
- (sorry about my inactivity, I'm trying to quit Wikia.) I dont know exactly what blunt means, but I think this may be: You overreact to everything, aren't welcoming, don't already make the chat a better place, don't really seem to care about the chat, etc. MsDtalk 01:54, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

I have been thinking about this for awhile, and think CM4S gave me the pushy type thingy on chat. CM4Sci: "race apply for chat mod" "i don't get why you don't have them".
But guess most people will be Oppose or Neutral saying "not mature enough", "explodes to much", "might be crazy", "doesn't like pie", or "I hate him".
I really think all/most of those arn't real reasons for someone not to be chat mod, some are just random ones I thought of. Who cares if the chat mod is a little random? They just need to be not be crazy with the kicks and bans and not be spamming stuff all the time.
Guessing this will be a question: "you even giving a reason for you to be chat mod, man?" Maybe i'm not, maybe I am, maybe i'm Deadpool.
But guessing CM4S told me that because someone was being a noob (possible puppet) and Berry, Storm, and BFN were all AFK. And maybe because i'm on a lot. Idk if he was joking or not.
Idk why i'm still adding stuff on, choose which to go with! Support, Neutral, or Oppose. RaceLord talk, Time To Craft Some...Thing.

- Definite support. There have been too many incidents where mods are on and are not doing their job. I trust this user. --- CM4S (talk) 20:05, August 16, 2013 (UTC)
- Being a chat mod myself, and knowing that Racelord has been on this wiki for quite some time (I don't actually know that.... okay just looked it up, and yeah he's been here for a while) I believe Racelord should be a chat mod. With 13,021 edits, Rank 15 on the wiki and an occupation of "stuff" there is no doubt Racelord will make a good chat mod. Creeper S (talk) 20:13, August 16, 2013 (UTC)

- Per Berry, in some way, except I don't feel quite as strongly as him. While you certainly could use the rights in some instances, are in chat quite frequently, and are a user that I respect a fair amount, whenever you do chat, it is something, just, well, random. And that's not bad; it can be a little entertaining, but it's not always the most constructive either. Also, there have been a few Brickimedia-related conflicts that still stick in my mind and have me mildly worried. BrickfilmNut (talk) 20:24, August 16, 2013 (UTC)
Oppose
- Though I can think of worse options, RaceLord does not put very much attention on chat. He'll often go away, come back hours later, and ask what is going on in the middle of an (often pretty clear) conversation. Aside from that, it is rather annoying how he pretends to kill, explode, and a plethora of other violent actions which are borderline spam. Also, I think that a mod should be able to maintain a certain quality of grammar, and RaceLord can be hard to understand and doesn't even capitalize his is. (I would not oppose if that was my only reason, but I do want to bring this up.) Also, his "logic" is often just saying that someone is wrong, no matter how sensible they are being. For an example of that, look here. (Not exactly his logic, but it's the same line of thinking in some of the things he said to Meiko.) And yes, not being mature enough is a huge reason not to be a chat moderator. Berrybrick 20:17, August 16, 2013 (UTC)
- ok...... being random is what I am, telling me not to be random is like telling The Runaway Guys on youtube to be normal ("tried" once, worst video ever). I don't bother to have "I" in cap because I type fast and don't bother. Grammer, you mean when I say "jsut" and "soemone"? Thats from typing fast. "He'll often go away, come back hours later", I am usually playing Minecraft, World of Warcraft, or watching stuff on youtube. "ask what is going on in the middle of an (often pretty clear) conversation", um.... most of the timeI come back and something random is going on that I don't understand without going back and reading past words. "pretends to kill, explode, and a plethora of other violent actions" I watch shows like NCIS, Castle, and Hawaii Five-0 and play/watch-videos-of games with guns, swords, and other crazy stuff. "not being mature enough is a huge reason not to be a chat moderator", Meiko explodes sometimes, and what is your version of being mature? Think I answered everything, or almost everything. RaceLord talk, Time To Craft Some...Thing.
- Where did I tell you not to be random? And no, I don't mean "jsut" and the likes. I mostly meant not capitalizing, but like I said, it's not a big deal. You're just explaining why you don't focus on chat, which doesn't make a difference. Yes, sometimes something random is going on, but it happens in normal conversation too. Watching/playing violent shows/games doesn't make a difference. My "version" of being mature includes not being so random. Again, I'm not asking you to change, but it's a bit excessive and not something I like to see so much out of a mod. Berrybrick 20:44, August 16, 2013 (UTC)
- You didn't, i'm saying telling me not to be random is like that. I only capitalizing when its important, like if I was editing a page or something. Don't think capitalizing on chat is to important, but you did say "it's not a big deal." I don't need to focus on chat, chat isn't my life. Don't think I have anything to say about the random stuff on chat part. "Watching/playing violent shows/games doesn't make a difference" what does that mean? "being mature includes not being so random", don't think I have anything to say about that. RaceLord talk, Time To Craft Some...Thing.
- Yes, which is why that isn't relevant. I do think that using good grammar is important (when you aren't in a hurry) and is part of being mature. Again, I wouldn't oppose solely based on that. Chat doesn't need to have your sole focus when you are a mod, but I don't think that you give it enough focus as it is. Like I said, you often leave for hours at a time (which is fine, like you said, you have better things to do) but you return in the middle of a conversation without understanding what is happening and don't make too much of an effort to find out what was happening. What I meant by saying that it doesn't make a difference is that I feel my points still stand despite that. Berrybrick 20:59, August 16, 2013 (UTC)
- Don't get why all of you go to the bads and not the goods RaceLord talk, Time To Craft Some...Thing.
- RaceLord, yes, there are good things about you but they don't outweigh the reasons why I don't think you should be a mod. It doesn't make you a bad person, I just don't think it's a good fit. I couldn't handle being a doctor or security guard, but that doesn't make me a bad person. Berrybrick 21:23, August 16, 2013 (UTC)

- While I can only read a few replies to this since I'm on a phone with limited time to spare, I can say that RaceLord is a great member of the community, but does not engage in chat enough compared to the amount of time he spends AFK. He also "spams", although it's not in bad faith, but he does make some pointless messages that get old after a while. He often makes some inappropriate remarks regarding other members. I'd go in more detail but need to leave. I may expand on this later. --ToaMeiko (talk) 21:04, August 16, 2013 (UTC)
