LEGO Dimensions a "new toys to life" video game have been revealed. They will be available for: PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U. The Starter Pack will retail for $99.99.

References to Back To The Future and LEGO Ninjago appear in the game's leaked product description, too, although it isn't yet clear how they'll fit in. There's also pictures of there worlds on the box art.

"When a mysterious and powerful vortex suddenly appears in various LEGO worlds, different characters from DC Comics, Lord of the Rings and the LEGO Movie are swept away. To save their friends, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle bravely jump into the vortex to rescue their friends and fight to save all of LEGO humanity," reads the game's description.

"Let your creativity be your guide as you build the LEGO Gateway to adventure, journeying through unexpected worlds and teaming-up with unlikely allies on the quest to defeat the evil Lord Vortech. Play with characters you never thought you could see in a LEGO game together, using vehicles and weapons you never thought possible. LEGO Bad Cop driving the DeLorean Time Machine? Why not?! The Ninjago Masters of Spinjitsu fighting alongside Wonder Woman...yes, please! Get ready to break the rules, because the only rule with LEGO Dimensions is that there are no rules.

"The LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack is all you need to begin - build your base and embark on a fantastic quest. Included in the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack:

  • LEGO Dimensions videogame
  • LEGO Toy Pad
  • LEGO Gateway building bricks (247)
  • 3 LEGO minifigures (Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle)
  • LEGO Batmobile vehicle

An official announcement is expected later today. Sources: [1]/[2]

Also Disney Infinty/Amiibo are very popular and there 15$ each, and you can't take them off the base (like you can do here). These aloe come with a character and a vehicle so technically you get 100% free :P

Yeah, but they're also usually figures you can't get in any other sort of form, and they look like collectors items when you put them on a shelf (at least Amiibos, I've paid literally no attention to Infinity figures). But in this case, if you want a Marty McFly for example, you can: A) Pay US $29.99 for a Marty figure, and two useless mini models
or
B) Pay US $5 more for a Marty figure, minifigure-scale DeLorean and Doc Brown figure

I really can't see any reason to get these, unless you get really into the game of course and want those characters to play as (which is fine if you do)

That's not the point, though, Soup. :P The disks are unnecessary because instead of wasting plastic and money to give us in-game content in a physical parcel, it could simply be DLC like with the LEGO Batman games. Yes, the disks do stuff, but they're still unnecessary and cost more. It'd be like if websites started selling "website chips" that you had to buy at Walmart or wherever in order to access their URLs.

Leave it to just2good to do a crazy speculation on who else will be released in the fun packs > https://www....16923181519/

I'm pretty sure those Simpsons and Scooby-Doo ones are legit though they match up perfectly. If they're going to give Slimer a new mould why not here? The hover board has a new mould

Seem like good guesses. I wouldn't have thought that The Simpsons would make it in, but it makes some sense since Fox does want to promote the brand to kids (pretty much the reason for the theme). I wouldn't be too thrilled if Scratchey were put in the game though...

Superman and Joker are musts from the DC corner, and Aquaman is plausible too. The Flash and Robin might be good bets for future releases. I fully expect them to take advantage of this property.

Ghostbusters are kind of in the same boat as The Simpsons, but I think they would be a good addition. It would be interesting to see Slimer. I don't believe that he is the equivalent to a hoverboard, since he would probably be a bit more intricate.

I like the idea of including Chima characters. The more in-house figures the merrier.

Scooby and Shaggy seem definite to me.

Tin Man might as well be a figure. It would be nice for Dorthy and her other friends (and also Glinda) to appear.

It's too bad that the Star Wars rights lie with Disney and that this directly competes with Infinity, because it would be nice to have some of those characters, plus maybe some Marvel characters. I'd like to see Harry Potter too. The Simpsons suggestion makes me hope that some classic CMFs can make their way in too, plus maybe fan favorites like Johnny Thunder and Pepper Roni.

Heh, I'm not even going to buy this. I just like speculation. :P

I see the reason that Dorothy and friends aren't in is the moulding issue. Like nearly everyone needs one (Besides the winkles and the scarecrow). It's odd that there not mini-dolls, The Wizard of Oz (1939) mostly produced in merchandise aimed at girls.

I'm sure we'll get Harry Potter around the time the spin off comes out. Everything WB produced by LEGO is most likely. (I think the character beside the Joker is Harley).

Imagine if, in TT games's LEGO games, the upfront purchase came with some bricks but was about $100, and you had to pay about $15 per character you wanted to unlock... Think anyone would complain?

This is truly a genius scheme by TLG, but if the gameplay amounts to nothing more than what we pretty much saw in the LEGO Movie game (which was a slightly more limited version of getting to play as all of these characters at once), then there is no reason to pay hundreds of dollars for a slightly more expansive experience. The only real change that could save this is if we actually get to build something from our own imaginations in a LEGO game again (Oh, pfft, why would we do that in a LEGO game...). For those of you who are confused because I was mostly indifferent in chat yesterday as opposed to completely cynical like today, it's because I didn't make the TT games connection then. :P

This is why I say LEGO Ideas is a conspiracy. They did it with the Simpsons project, they did it with Jurassic Park and they did it with The Wizard of Oz. LEGO officials watch the site, and when they find an idea that can make money they steal it and cancel the project just so they don't have to pay the 1% of profits in royalties. (granted, these projects more than likely went up while the actual sets were in development. We know for a fact that designing a set can take anywhere from a day to 2 years... which is the amount of time between the Simpsons project and the official sets... >:/)
