2010 - Present

Collectable Minifigures is a series of sets beginning in 2010 to deal with the collectible market. There are sixteen minifigures per batch, in polybags that cannot be seen through. Every two months a new batch is planned to be released. They have new features like shoes, shorts, and several other exclusive pieces, such as accessories and hairpieces. It is not uncommon for duplicate accessories to be included. The minifigures are not available in any other sets.

Details

The minifigures were introduced in May 2010. The first indication was in the April LEGO Magazine, with a poster of the minifigures. The figures are based on movies, sports, history, and everyday life. They were designed to be traded and collected, created so that minifigures could be purchased without purchasing a set. Each one featured more detail than most normal figures, accessories and a black display stand for the minifigures. The figures featured new pieces like maracas, microphones, and several other exclusive pieces. Every figure came in a mystery opaque polybag, meaning that buyers can not see what is inside. However, if one looks on the back of the polybags, the barcodes can be used to identify the minifigure for series 1 and 2. The figures are available for a limited time, then the next batch would be released.
