Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is a NINJAGO movie that has been announced on the NINJAGO homepage. It was aired on Cartoon Network in US and on SuperRTL in Germany and on "Nelonen" on Finland. The movie has been split into two episodes- Way of the Ninja and King of Shadows.

Story
Kai and Nya are working in there family black smith shop Four weapons. One day, they are approached by an old man who shows disdain for the weapons they make, saying they are useless in the art of stealth. Kai drives off the old man, who in turn disappears when Kai turns his back. Moments later, a dark cloud appears over the village, with local farmers being the first to notice. On the edge of the hill, a large vehicle (the Turbo Shredder) appears along with many motorcycles, all with skeletons on board, notably General Nuckal, Kruncha, and Samukai. the farmers attack the skeletons, only to run at the last second. Then, Kai, wearing hand-crafted samurai armor, engaged in battle, Nya joining in. Kai is nearly killed by Samukai, only to be saved by the old man, who reappeared just in time. The old man is not able to save Nya, as she is kidnapped under the orders of someone called "lord Garmadon." The old man tells Kai the story of Ninjago: Long ago before time had a name, The first master of Spinjitzu created the world of Ninjago using The four weapons of Spinjitzu: the Scythe of Quakes, the Shurikens of Ice, the Nun-chucks of Lightning, and the Sword of Fire. When the master passed away, his two sons Wu and Garmadon promised to protect the world he created. But the older son (Garmadon) was consumed by darkness and wanted to recreate the world in his image using the powerful weapons. The brothers fought until Garmadon was struck down and banished to the underworld. Knowing his brother might return, Wu hid the weapons and placed dragons to gard them. He made a map of where the weapons were and found an honest man who could hide it. After telling Kai the story, he told him the honest man was Kai's father,Garmadon had struck a deal with Samukai, and the old man was the younger brother. Kai at first refuses to et involved, until realizing he won't stand a chance. He trains in Wu's monastery, after completing his training awaits a final test, and Wu tells Kai he has already learned spinjitzu. later that night, kai is ambushed by three ninja, and the ensuing battle causes him to be thrown out onto the training grounds. Kai activates the training course and the obstacles disarm the attackers. Moments later, Wu stops the fight, revealing that the three are his other students.after using spinjitzu to transform their outfits into colored ninja outfits. the four are introduced to eack other: Cole, black ninja of earth, solid as rock; Jay, blue ninja of lightning; Zane, white ninja of ice and seer with a sixth sense; and Kai, red ninja of fire. Introductions are cut short as Wu announces the search for the golden weapons begins. the first destination is the caves of despair, where Kai races off in hopes of finding Nya. instead, he nearly gets caught by the skeleton Krazi who is about to raise the alarm, had it not been for the other three messing up the skeleton and shoving its foot into its mouth. as the four capture the weapon, they are attacked by Samukai and a whole legion. Jay notices the enemies to be just like the training course, and after going through the motions Wu taught him, he summoned a tornado of energy corresponding with his element. in other words: he performed spinjitzu, followed by the others. Samukai and his legion retreat, as a dragon protecting the Scythe appeared behind the ninja. In desperation, Kai uses the scythe, despite Wu's instruction not to use the weapon's power, as no mortal could handle it. a rift appears in the cave ceiling, and the ninja escape. Meanwhile Garmadon tells Samukai everything is going to plan. As the ninja are heading to the shurikens of ice, Wu teaches the ninja the most powerful move in spinjitzu: the tornado of creation. The boat arrives, and the ninja enter the frozen plains. the three yet again escape another dragon, as Zane was frozen upon contact with the weapons, and the others used him as a snowboard, with the weapons being in their possession. at the floating ruins, they climb a giant chain to the nunchuks of lightning, jumping down to escape the lightning dragon. the four use special inventions made by Jay, who made backpacks the spawn wings. the ninja are at such a high altitude that they are able to fly to all the way to the forest of tranquility, the location of the sword of fire. After everyone sleeps, Kai is awoken by none other than... Nya! Nya runs, and Kai chases her through the forest, eventually entering the fire temple. Nya is then revealed to be an illusion made by lord garmadon. garmadon then exploited the fact that Kai forgot his sword, the real Nya hanging from chains above the lava. "if you dont free the sword of fire for me, how else will you cut the chains to free your sister?" he said. kai takes the sword, cuts Nya free and is then confronted by solid shadows. Wu arrives and takes them out, but the dragon appears. Garmadon reveals that the weapons were taken by Samukai and that the other ninja are tied up. Wu makes a sacrifice: he would take the sword of fire to the underworld to prevent their unison. After that, garmadon directs his troop to the underworld. Meanwhile, as the skeletons leave, jay steal Nuckal's sword and cuts the others free. they engage in pursuit, but the others escape
