Re: Rouge One

  • Where have you been? That news is like two weeks old (it came out of Anaheim) :D NovaHawk 23:34, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
    • Yeah, found it on YouTube the day after it was shown- most boring trailer ever :P NovaHawk 23:41, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Just so you're not two weeks behind again- Kylo Ren unmasked and Lupita Nyong’o’s character :P NovaHawk 14:22, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
    • Eh, just fanboys still wishing for a Boba Fett movie :P After Rogue One was announced, which noone saw coming, I put absolutely no stock in those rumours anymore- everyone thought the spin-offs were going to be based around one single person, and even that turned out to be completely wrong. (And I'm going to assume you've seen the image/report confirming Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma :P ) NovaHawk 06:10, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

Leadup to TFA rumours

  • It's a few days old, so you've probably already seen it: (rumoured) summary of the events between the Battle of Endor up to about a year after (including the Battle of Jakku) NovaHawk 10:01, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I've been staying away from makingstarwars because of spoilers, but I still want to know about events leading up to the movie :P Yeah, Aftermath should be ok, although I've only read two canon books so far- Tarkin was ok but Lords of the Sith was a huge letdown, so I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm guessing you've read the excerpt though? NovaHawk 11:40, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
      • Haha nice work, you win :D You missed the underside of the struts though (but that obviously wouldn't be 200 pieces) :P Also if it was going to be made, I think they'd build the cockpit more like the Inquisitor's TIE was done. But to be honest, when I was looking at the picture before, I thought that there was a second cockpit or a storage pod (like a TIE bomber), but it's just a vent/engine thing. And I thought it was much bigger, as in 4 people could fit in a cockpit and everything was huge, but now I see the picture again, it was obviously just perspective :D So you're right, 500 pieces would have been reasonable for this TIE :) NovaHawk 01:03, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Reviews

The budget proposals on the admin wiki are a bit of a mess, so I'm working to straighten some things up and clean up the page. Would you still review 75087 Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter, and do you own the set yourself already? BrickfilmNut (talk) 02:59, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

The Big Bang Theory set has already gotten some prominent reviews, so I personally don't know if it'd be worth it, but I can suggest it to other admins and see what they think. It'd be great to have either you or Nova review a Episode VII set, though, since you seem to be the biggest SW fans on this site. :P I'll definitely suggest this one. BrickfilmNut (talk) 16:54, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
  • (talk page stalker) Speaking of which- do you mind if I do a review of 75087? Not a paid one or anything, I've had the set for a while, but I didn't want to do a review in case it interfered with yours if you got a paid one, but that debate's been going on for months, so... And as BFN said, it'd probably be better to focus on TFA reviews for paid reviews now with Force Friday less than 2 months away NovaHawk 07:38, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Ok thanks :) Ooh they sound great- I haven't seen any toys other than LEGO and the Hasbro SF TIE (as a reference image for the LEGO set), I'll have to have a look and see what else is being sold :D NovaHawk 11:29, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

RE: Re: Reviews

Since the section above has been a little bit, er, invaded.... :P Anyway, I don't doubt that you can write a good review for it. It's just that I've seen a whole bunch of other reviews for it so far. The Brick Show, TheBrickFan, Brickset, at least a couple of other Youtubers... and then, when killing time during a 504 error downtime that delayed this message, I saw TheBrickBlogger post one. :P And they, particularly the Brickset one, have certainly done their research on the show as well. I guess I can still bring up the idea on the Budget Proposals page, but I can't say I'm going to support. :P And yeah, we have a lot of budget left. BrickfilmNut (talk) 16:36, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

Warning users

We appreciate that you're trying to help out the community, but in the future please don't add warning messages to users' talk pages. Leave that stuff to the admins as the user can discuss what he/she did wrong. I also removed the ban as the new user was simply trying to add a background but didn't think the notes should've gone with it. Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3Friends girls.jpg

It's based off that weird LEGO star wars show, Noba added the source. I added a discussion to admin to see if you/other users can warn new ones. Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3Friends girls.jpg
@Soupperson1: There is nothing wrong with him using warning templates or any other user talk template messages. --ToaMeiko (talk) 20:52, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
* excluding the welcome template. BrikkyyTalk 22:37, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
What's wrong with a non-admin using welcome? CJC95 (talk) 08:55, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
It could confuse new users into thinking someone is an admin when they aren't. BrikkyyTalk 09:27, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Nothing about the welcome template implies adminship. It simply welcomes a new user to the community, coming from an established member of the community. Things like this do not need to be reserved to admins. --ToaMeiko (talk) 14:27, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Reverting edits

Hi, just as a reminder, when reverting edits, please don't use the rollback button for legitimate, good faith edits. Please use the undo button instead, and provide an understandable reason for the revert, as it can help the other editor understand how to make more-useful contributions to the wiki. Rollback should only be used in situations of bad faith editing, such as spam, vandalism, edit warring, etc. The edit that prompted me to notify you about this can be found here. Thanks! --ToaMeiko (talk) 21:35, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Didn't see this coming

  • You've probably already seen it NovaHawk 04:49, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
    • Loved it, I think mainly because I didn't have any idea it was going to happen. I clicked on it thinking it was going to be like the Korean one where the only difference was like a half-second shot of the First Order assembly, then there was that awesome opening shot in the Star Destroyer engine and I was like "....oh." :P Some nice shots in there with Kylo holding a lightsaber to Rey, Flametroopers in action, and interesting to see Ken Leung's character (blurred out officer next to Leia), and yeah, that TIE shot was pretty awesome :) I'm considering changing my avatar to 1:07 where an explosion randomly happens behind BB-8 though :D (probably won't, but I found it funny nonetheless). Rey's voice kinda bugs me though, which is weird because I didn't notice it in the other trailer, maybe it was just those particular words in this one :P Haha good timing with your battery though, did you know it was coming out?(were there any rumours of it? I never saw anything) NovaHawk 11:27, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

Re: The Force Awakens

To any talk page stalkers: The following message contains spoilers relating to Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.

  • 3 times in 2 days, are you crazy? :P I'm guessing at least one of those was in 3D- what was that like?

I think I'm in the minority- didn't love it, but didn't hate it.

It's just too much of an Episode IV copy for me to get over- good guy finds top secret plans, gets captured but sticks plans in a droid beforehand so droid can run away, droid finds poor person on desert planet who just happens to be Force sensitive. Bad guys use superweapon to blow up critical good guy planet(s), then turn their attention to where all the main good guys are. Critical info shows up at the right time for good guys to hatch plan to blow up superweapon. Good guys blow up superweapon with seconds to spare. Yay. Also, the music was very underwhelming- there was no typical epic John Williams score which I'm so used to in Star Wars, thought that was weird (just a random aside).

And then there's the in-universe problems- how are the New Republic so stupid that they don't do anything when they know the First Order's building a superweapon and just let the Resistance sort it out? How is Luke so stupid that he just gives up and walks away? Why was Han so stupid that he walks right up to a dark side user to expect to survive, when he could have easily escaped? (sure, it's his son, but still, dumb move). I hate that there's another film based around a superweapon, but I find this superweapon very unrealistic- being able to blow up five planets at once which are located on the other side of the galaxy? Please.

All that said, I really like the new cast- I think Rey's going to work great as a Jedi, I couldn't see how she'd work as just being some girl with a stick, and I couldn't really see Finn as a Jedi, even though I saw him with a lightsaber in the trailers. Poe's hilarious, didn't expect that, and Finn had some great moments too. Kylo.... he's a bit Anakin-y, but I think he'll be ok I guess.

Oops, sorry, didn't mean to write a review :P Basically- not really sure if I liked it, but liked the new cast, and I think what it has done is set things up for really well for the future- I'm actually really looking forward to Episode VIII now (as long as there's no superweapon involved). NovaHawk 06:33, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

End of spoilers.

Reverted edit

Hi, I just wondered why you reverted my edit to Poe's X-Wing. Is new parts in a set not within the scope of Brickipedia? Lachlan (talk) 15:07, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear active user,

NovaHawk's annoying weekly message- 2016, issue 1!

Welcome to NovaHawk's annoying message, a member of NovaHawk's annoying things that NovaHawk does. I hope you like this message and choose to treat it with love.

Ok, fine, I'll stop now. Hi, this is the first of a set of weekly reminders pointing out some of the community-based discussions that should be taking place, but aren't. Every week, links will be provided to some discussions which have started but have had their last edit as early as October 2013. Hopefully by resolving one or two things a week, we should be through most of the important stuff by June.

One new thing I'm introducing is the Featured Forum. Every week, one topic from Brickipedia:Forum will go up. But the end of the week, it will be closed for good. The forum is just getting waaay to long and nothing is getting resolved on it. So please, if you do nothing else, just take a look at the featured forum once a week, it shouldn't take too long. If you have no opinion, please just sign your name in the bottom section so we know you've at least seen it so we don't have to worry about what your opinion might be (and it bumps it up in the RC as well). Also, take a look at the things below if you can.

Here are a few helpful links:

Dear active user,

NovaHawk's annoying weekly message- 2016, issue 2!

I know, I've been keeping you in suspense, but here it is! Issue 2!

A big thank you to everyone who participated and forums and proposals from the last issue. If you are one of these people, please feel free to be mean to people who didn't do anything (like Brikkyy13) until issue 3 comes out :P

This week's featured forum concerns expanding the scope of our categories- go check it out.

Also, I will be closing three other forums if there is no further discussion as voting/commenting is 1/vs everyone else or unanimous. Please note that one of these includes a big change to article ratings:
