News reporter

  • Congratulations, news reporter rights have been added to your account! You should now see a new box on Brickipedia News:Home, which is what you should use to create news reports, as it adds a few technical things for the news feeds to work. Please be sure to fill out the template at the top of the page with your username, and to tag your reports at the bottom area of the code. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Again, congratulations and welcome to the team :) NovaHawk 09:55, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

There shouldn't be. Berrybrick (talk) 02:25, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

  • Hey, just a couple of minor technical points with news reports you've been making- there are time/date fields in the template at the top where you put your username- you need to fill this out so that news reports show up in the feed, because reports are sorted by date. If there's no date, they're not included. |time= is set up so all you have to do is add five tildes (~~~~~) after it- if you do this, you don't need to worry about the day/month/year fields. Also, when adding tags, you need to make sure there are no spaces or commas, or anything between the tags, otherwise you get weird formatting problems. But, other than those small things, you're doing great :) NovaHawk 21:48, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
    • Yeah, you two need to sort that out :P I'd say since Berrybrick was the first to write it, your article should be redirected to his, but any info you had in yours that he doesn't have in his should be added (but that's just my opinion) NovaHawk 22:03, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Userboxes

  • @this- nope, you can change that kind of wording without UP :) NovaHawk 11:00, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Protector genders

  • How do you know the protector genders? I looked on LEGO.com, like you said, but the only indication is the vague "father to son" line which some people have been interpreting as a stock phrase. Berrybrick (talk) 02:21, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
Some people are taking it to just be a more poetic way of saying "through the generations," and then all of the protectors share the same generic description (hence "stock phrase.") I think it would be stupid to say "Father to son" if they didn't mean it, but they do have a point that it is still ambiguous. \_O_/ Berrybrick (talk) 02:31, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
  • I'm not sure what you mean by LEGO being on the more literal side of things. It's not like there is an underlying allegory, of course, they just used a stock phrase (which is just another way of saying "cliché," actually, so that is a perfectly valid thing to call it). Likely whoever wrote the web description (which was for the Protectors as a group, not individually) was just given basic information which included no more than their roles as leaders/mentors, mask powers, and the mask tradition and then just used "father to son" because it uses words that are small and easy to understand ("generation" is a big one), if not just because they think it sounds better. \_O_/ Berrybrick (talk) 02:51, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Re: this:

  • Must have been a glitch on their website for like a minute or so- it's working again now :P NovaHawk 03:33, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Re:Re:Protector Genders

  • Well, the community isn't taking it as canon though, at least not collectively because it is vague (something which LEGO actually is known for). However, you are right that there is nothing else official actually contradicting it, so I will leave them but add a footnote. Berrybrick (talk) 21:38, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
  • (I ended up making it a regular note, because I wasn't sure where to put the footnote, but I think that's okay too.) Berrybrick (talk) 21:50, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Sig

  • Hey Brikkyy, what's up with your sig? It's putting the code down when you sign instead of the template, but it was fine not long ago :S Have you changed your preferences recently or something? NovaHawk 11:37, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
    • I meant Special:Preferences :P You've been typing that in manually all that time? That must be painful- give me a sec and I'll fix it so you can ~~~~ and not cause any coding problems NovaHawk 11:47, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
      • Should work now. I've made a new page, User:Brikkyy13/sig1 which contains your actual code, User:Brikkyy13/sig is now just a template which gets the code for /sig1. So if you want to change your sig anytime, you'll need to edit /sig1 NovaHawk 11:50, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
        • Just ~~~~ anytime now and see if it works :) NovaHawk 11:53, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
          • All seems good :) NovaHawk 11:55, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
            • No worries, sorry I didn't realise you were manually typing all that sooner :) NovaHawk 11:56, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

7152

  • Hey, just letting you know you're working on a duplicate page- there was already an existing page at 7152 TIE Fighter & Y-Wing. Mind if I merge them? NovaHawk 09:32, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Contacting

Any way I could contact you still if you're not going to be on the wiki so much? There were a few things I was going to eventually get your ideas on, though I didn't quite get around to it before this. BrickfilmNut (talk) 04:06, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Re:Ninjago leaked images

  • Done, thanks, I missed that, still haven't got around to Ninjago yet NovaHawk 07:13, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

  • (It doesn't hurt to explain good faith reversions in the edit summary NovaHawk 22:52, 4 February 2015 (UTC))

Re: Article Feedback

  • Because resolved means you actually had to do something to fix it, no action needed means, well, no action needed :P NovaHawk 23:40, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I tried to get a discussion going about articlefeedback, setting some guidelines andmaybe customising it a bit. But like on so many forums, noone replied :P @that feedback for 60098- I changed it to "useful", not for the picture part, but it needs more info (I believe we do have prelims for it so we could potentially have at least a description) NovaHawk 01:23, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Inferion

Sorry for the delay. I got distracted with Unity's new UI system and trying to make something somewhat cool with it. :P The image of the model is here, with an additional image featuring a preliminary facial texture here to give you an idea of how the helmet may look with the eyes. How are things on your end going? BrickfilmNut (talk) 23:52, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Oh, really sorry about the wait, in that case. :P I look forward to seeing what you produce, though. BrickfilmNut (talk) 00:54, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Re: Let's see if psychology actually works :P

  • :D Actually I just chose those at random :P I don't really have a favourite film/trilogy, I love them all equally :D NovaHawk 08:55, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
    • Nah, if anything, I chose 5 first because I know it seems to be widely thought of as the best. If I absolutely had to choose one, it'd probably either be 6 or 3 :) And I know, I'm one of the few people who didn't hate 1 :P I guess I just think the ending sequence (especially the lightsaber duel) more than made up for any of its other possible shortcomings. I've read a few TFA rumours, but I've been intentionally trying to stay away from any spoilers- I think I'm going to have to not use the internet in the months leading up to it. I've been amusing myself with Star Wars/Frozen parodies instead :PNovaHawk 11:45, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

(Talk page stalker)

  • Unlikely- usually these spambots all have slightly different IPs and come from a certain range (usually the first three numbers are the same, but the fourth is different). But doing a range block has a relatively high risk of blocking legitimate users NovaHawk 09:34, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Re:Kind of an "I told you so" but not really

That would imply there is an inherent problem with that, which would make it worth investing time and effort into such things, and considering that such time is a lot more than the time to click "100" on Recent Changes instead of "50", I see no real need for it. CJC95 (talk) 13:24, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Re: (talk page stalker)

  • Since the original image still hasn't been pulled, I'm going to add the image back in for now, if there are problems we can always remove it. @Brikkyy, would you mind coming on chat if you're still here? :P NovaHawk 05:30, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Why did you rollback this edit?

Here. Rollback should be for reverting vandalism. Why not edit his change to make it more styalistically-correct, or at least undo with an explanation. Ajraddatz (talk) 23:29, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Again, please don't use rollback for edits that aren't vandalism: Special:Diff/964747 --ToaMeiko (talk) 23:49, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

MultiReview template

  • Pretty sure it won't work in the userspace, and you still have to have all the normal review stuff there. Try making "Review:test/Brikkyy13" and hit the "review of multiple sets" preloader, see if that makes more sense :) NovaHawk 10:40, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
    • In the template, you're going to need to put actual set names (ie, the names of the sets you're reviewing in the review) NovaHawk 11:58, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
      • Nope, you've got it right- see Review:70785_Pohatu_-_Master_of_Stone and Review:70790_Lord_of_Skull_Spiders NovaHawk 12:13, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
        • Uh.... yes? :P Yeah, as you can see, the title doesn't of the actual review doesn't even have to be one of the set pages (yours is called "Test/Brikkyy13", you could name it "BIONICLE wave 1/Brikkyy13" or whatever), but it'll show up on all the reviewPages corresponding to the set names you put in the template :) NovaHawk 12:22, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
          • No worries, let me know if you run into any problems, the template's never been used in a real situation before so I don't know how it'll actually go :) NovaHawk 12:33, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
            • Well, the preloader was meant to make it pretty straightforward- replace "Set 1" and "Set 2" with set names :P But there really does need to be a proper review tutorial page on here. DISPLAYTITLE should be simple- <noinclude>{{DISPLAYTITLE:name}}</noinclude>. Not sure why you'd want to do that though. We do have rules in place for mainspace articles so the text isn't any different for their displayed titles to avoid confusion with linking (it's only used for italics or making certain words smaller), I don't know if a similar thing would be done for reviews (because noone's ever thought of using DISPLAYTITLE in reviews :P). NovaHawk 13:01, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
  • As I was saying to Berrybrick earlier- according to this, Rogue One's obviously a Boba Fett spinoff- "The title Rogue One is clearly a riff off of “Slave One” the name of the ship owned by Star Wars’ most famous bounty hunter Boba Fett." Because, you know, they both contain the word "One" (and even that's not true, his ship's called Slave I) :D My theory (and a lot of other people's) is that it's a film based on Wedge- there were only four Rogues referred to by name in actual dialogue in Episode V (that I can think of)- Luke, Wedge, Dack and Wes (Janson). It makes sense to me to base the first spinoff on somone that a casual fan may vaguely recall seeing in one of the main movies, or can go back and watch the movies and go "oh, it's that guy". So it wouldn't be a new character, or someone taken from the EU. It wouldn't be a spinoff based on Luke, because, you know, the Original Trilogy is a series of films based on Luke and wouldn't be much of a "spinoff". Dack and Wes are too minor (and Dack's dead). That leaves Wedge, who received a fairly small amount of screentime in the OT, but large enough to sorta be noticed. Plus, (and all the rest is based on EU stuff) Wedge went on to lead Rogue Squadron for several years, even sometimes when Luke dropped in and flew with the Rogues, Wedge deferred to Luke giving him the callsign of Rogue Leader, but Wedge kept the Rogue One title. And I can see Felicity Jones playing Iella [3] [4] [5]. Of course, it probably won't follow the EU and there won't be an Iella, but still :P NovaHawk 13:01, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
    • Oh no, don't tell me your one of those people who can't let go and say it must be Boba Fett nomatter what :D You do realise "One" is just a number right? And, something none of the people who subscribe to this theory can explain- How do you explain the Rogue bit? :D And as I said, it's Slave I, not Slave One, so that makes no sense- if they wanted to make a clever reference to Fett, they would have called it Rogue I. You do realise "one" is used elsewhere right? If you go off just the number, it could be about the journey of One-Arm after Luke cut her arm off or a documentary about constrution of the Home One, both of which are spelt One not I :P Sorry, but to me, unless the purpose of the title is solely to confuse people, it's got to be about someone who is the head of Rogue Squadron. It's that simple, and I can't understand where this "heist" story came from or why anyone's buying it :D I'm not seeing the Sabine resemblance either, but I don't really see much of a resemblance between Episode II/III Obi-Wan and The Clone Wars Obi-Wan, so.... :P Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a Rebels character in there, unlike TCW I actually like Rebels so it'd be ok. As long as they actually fit with the story and they're not forcing them in there just for the sake of going "hey look, a Rebels character!" :P NovaHawk 02:02, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
      • I made the mistake of reading Episode III spoilers- I'll never do that for a Star Wars movie again :P NovaHawk 12:03, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Jay Walker variation

I see you've undone my edit. Is that a legitimate variation? It looks real to me, but I don't recall seeing it in the show either. If we could have a source on it that would be excellent, but I now agree we should keep it removed until we can figure it out. (I've heard something about 'bloopers' that were included in the DVD releases, which shows them as actors. Could this be where the image is from?) LCF (talk!) 02:52, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

  • Yep, it's from the blooper reel (source) NovaHawk 08:16, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

Re: [1]

  • The sources are all reffed on the respective pages :P (Eurobricks). And the pages have been like that for months, I just never bothered to update the theme page :P Also one of them is that red TIE shuttle thing that pics have been leaked for (the one rumoured to be Gwendoline Christie's character's ship) NovaHawk 08:22, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
    • Personally I just can't wait to see BB-8 in LEGO :D NovaHawk

      • No, but Chuck Norris doesn't have to be in this bracket to be the winner. :P -NBP3.0 (talk) 18:06, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Article feedback

Re: Help with categories

  • Yeah, there's some that can't be removed because they're added through the use of a template. Also, most cats should be categorised- xxxx sets belong to Category:Sets by item number, xxx parts to Category:Parts by Design ID, etc. NovaHawk 11:49, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
    • We've always categorised categories :P Ideally we'd have a proper tree, but categories are so disorganised at the moment you can't really see it. However the autocategories definitely help to make it a bit clearer. No tips really, umm, if you're doing <theme> sets (eg Star Wars sets), they should have two categories- Category:Star Wars (or whatever theme you're doing) and Category:Sets by theme (same thing for minifigures), if you come across any weird part or set numbers (with letters or -'s in them), it'd probably be best to leave them as redlinks for now, that way we can go around and fix up the pagenames based on those categories (all official part names/numbers use only numbers, so we've got to get rid of all the fan-based designations). I dunno, I can't really think of anything at the moment :) NovaHawk 12:45, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
      • Supply my source that made up things are made up? :P Have you got a source that actually shows LEGO (not some random store) using letters or dashes in their item numbers? NovaHawk 12:16, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
        • Maybe it's because they're made up :D The "KC" designations are definitely a BrickLink system, most of the systems come from there or I think Peeron and Lugnet NovaHawk 13:18, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
          • The Boba Fett watch definitely has a 28511xx item number- all the other 2009 Star Wars adult watches do, it wouldn't make sense for it to have something different. Still trying to find it on archive.org. But ignore what I said about nothing using letters- clocks do use C (like C001) and T-shirts have a TSxx scheme :) NovaHawk 14:07, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
