21019 Eiffel Tower is an Architecture set released in 2014, based off of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Description[edit | edit source]

The Eiffel Tower rests on a square base with a hole in each corner, and the tower's legs fit into these holes. The legs feature inward-sloping pillars, represented using grey plates and tiles connected to the feet and the above level using plates with clips and sticks at their ends. Between these pillars are four arches, each made with a flexible grey rod. Above is the tower's first level, whose base is a large square grey plate. Bricks with sideways-facing. Above this are the clips for attaching to the legs, and above these clips, around the perimeter of the level, are bricks with knobs in the side, with the knobs all facing outward. Attached to the knobs are grey grill tiles. Above these at the corners are more clips, to connect to the edges in between the first and second levels, and on top of the rest of the bricks are flat grey tiles. In the centre of the level is also a TECHNIC connector and small axle, connecting to the 2x2 round brick at the base of the above level. The edges connecting to the bottom of the second level are similar to those connecting to the bottom of the first one, but shorter. The second level is similar to the bottom one. It is slightly smaller, and flat tiles cover the tops of all the bricks with sideways-facing knobs. The centre of this level has more plates, and the plates with clips for the edges going up from the second level extend outward from one of these grey square plates. Above these plates, in the centre, are more TECHNIC connectors and axles extending upwards. The edgesfrom this level are six studs long, and the pins at their ends attach on top of the pins for the final level of edges. These pins in turn are attached to 1x1 grey plates on the sides of a 1x1 brick with four knobs on its sides. The final level of edges is, like the lower ones, six studs long. On top of these ones' clips are dark grey cheese slopes sloping outwards. These pins are also connected to a 1x1 brick with four knobs. Above it is a 2x2 grey brick with an octagonal ring surrounding it, and on top of this is a 2x2 round grey dome. In the hole of the knob at the top of this dome, a grey blade is inserted.

Background[edit | edit source]

The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower and is located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. Gustave Eiffel's company designed and built the tower, which was erected in 1889 for the World's Fair. Since then, it's become a cultural icon of France and the most visited paid monument in the world, with millions of tourists each year climbing the tower or ascending it via elevator. It is also the highest building in Paris.
