Background[edit | edit source]

Bag End was the Hobbit-hole where Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins lived. After Gandalf took Bilbo on an adventure, Bilbo was presumed dead and the Sackville-Bagginses were the ones to assume ownership of Bag End. However, Bilbo came back and resumed living there along with his nephew Frodo. After Bilbo went to live with Elrond, and Frodo left on a quest to destroy the One Ring, Bag End was sold to the Sackville-Bagginses, but after the Scouring of the Shire, it was ceded back to Frodo by Lobelia Sackville-Baggins. When Frodo left with for the Undying Lands, his friend Samwise Gamgee was the one to inherit Bag End and lived there with his wife Rosie Cotton.
