Brickipedia:User rights/Requests

From Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki
Brickipedia Community
Shortcut:
BP:URR

Brickipedia's user rights request is the page where users can be nominated for special rights, including becoming a patroller, administrator, or functionary. A full list of each of the functions a user right has access to can be found at Special:ListGroupRights.

To prevent excessive nominations, there is an edit and time requirement to be nominated for each right. If a user requests rights but does not meet these requirements, the nomination will be considered invalid. If a user has more than one account, the edits on the other account(s) do not count towards their edit count.

User Group Edits Required for Nomination Time on Brickipedia Required for Nomination
Functionary - 1 year as administrator
Administrator 500 content namespace edits 3 months
Patroller 250 10 Days

To be eligible to vote in a request for rights, you must have made at least 50 mainspace edits to this wiki.

There is an archive here for requests.

Patroller requests[edit]

To file a request, place the following code under the "current requests" header, below any existing requests.

===replace this with your username - Patroller===
{{Rfr/1|replace this with your username}}
Replace this with a brief blurb about why you are requesting the right here. ~~~~
===Verdict===

Patroller rights are judged by an administrator, who will either mark the request with {{done}} or {{not done}}.

If a user has requested this right before, add (2) to the end of the topic header. For users with multiple requests, add the respective number of the request. It is also considered good practice to link to previous requests for rights when making a further request.

Functionary and administrator requests made on this page are a vote, meaning that if they achieve at least 80% support then they will be closed as successful. Opposers must provide reasons for opposing. These requests will last for two weeks, or can be closed after 5 days if there is unanimous support.

Jack Phoenix - Administrator

Jack Phoenix (Talk - Contribs - Block/rights logs - Logs) - (2,950 edits, 493 mainspace)

For almost two years I've been a system administrator for the Brickimedia wikis (because saying "Brickipedia + GBC + Meta that really should be closed by now but isn't" sounds just awkward), but my wiki experience goes well beyond that. I made my first edit on a wiki — pretty sure it was the English Wikipedia — over a decade (!) ago and for the past eight years I've been writing MediaWiki extensions and skins, which are used on various MediaWiki wikis out there. GlobalUserPage, the extension which allows you to have a single user page on a wiki farm, was originally written by me for ShoutWiki, but it's now used on all Wikimedia Foundation wikis!

On Brickimedia I've contributed to the Refreshed skin, which is our current default skin, as well as fixed various software bugs ranging from simple typos to logic errors in actual program code. But I've also written a few reviews (and hope to do more of those in the future!), participated in policy discussions and most recently written a detailed write-up about the Fabuland theme. In addition to all that, I've also moved badly named files, deleted unused low-resolution files and blocked vandals and spambots — all of which require admin tools, to which I've had access as a sysadmin.

  • Jack, you don't have enough mainspace edits to run for admin. Normally, I'd remove this outright but I don't think you'll have any trouble making 30 more mainspace edits. LCF (talk!) 07:17, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

SamanthaNguyen - Administrator

SamanthaNguyen (Talk - Contribs - Block/rights logs - Logs) - (1,147 edits, 896 mainspace)

My experience with wikis has been since February 19, 2012 which started out on the My LEGO Network Wiki(a), which is about 5 years (4 years and 9 months to be more exact). I've travelled across many smaller wikias during that time to learn about wiki markup, after getting interested from looking at the source code of pages. Over this time I have talked with other wiki members and started gaining insight of how a community works, and learning that collaboration is one of the most important keys. My main self-improvement started when I discovered LEGO CUUSOO Wiki (which is now LEGO Ideas Wiki) and although it is in the process of being closed and it no longer has much of a use in current times, it's helped me learn a lot, and one of the reasons how I came about here today. This was the first time where I was working on a wiki with over half a thousand articles, and have a decent amount of users to talk with and edit with. Discussions would happen, and we all learned how maintenance is truly important, along with communicating ideas (no pun intended!) of how bring a wiki a step forward. Although I have gained a lot of technical experience, I believe that I've also developed wiki experience along the way and would be able to assist as a role of an administrator and not just a system administrator at Brickipedia. 3. Per the above. This is a silly technicality anyway since sysadmins have the power to delete pages, block users, etc. and I'm sure that anyone we can trust with +sysadmin, we can definitely trust with +sysop, too. --Jack Phoenix (talk) 08:35, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Edward Nigma - Administrator[edit]

The following section is preserved as an archive. Please do not modify it. The result was passed

Edward_Nigma (Talk - Contribs - Block/rights logs - Logs) - (3,012 edits, 3,018 mainspace)

I've been contributing to this site for over four years now, making over 2,000 mainspace edits. I'm an active editor; Currently I'm a patroller (I have been since 2013), and in the past I was a QCG member as well as a chat moderator. I believe I have a good understanding of the policy and enough experience to be an administrator on this site. LCF (talk!) 20:39, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

  • You were banned just a couple of months ago. Berrybrick (talk) 21:03, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
    • The block was a mistake, one I should have sorted it out immediately. However, I didn't think it'd do me any good since George was almost certain it was Knight and I messing around (he'd already voluntarily left the Skype group by then, essentially erasing the Skype room logs from his computer; without them, it would be somewhat hard to prove I didn't do anything, the way I saw it). AjraddatzFan2006, the vandal in question, was actually a sockpuppet of the user Klintrin, not myself or Knight. I simply logged into chat (on my account, Edward Nigma) to see what was going on. Klintrin was added to the Brickimedia Skype Group by another user, and then Klintrin proceeded to kick everyone out of the group except for me, Knight, himself, George, and the user that added him. When it comes down to it, Nova made it clear that not even he was sure who was vandalising and trolling, as seen on the block warning on my talk page. There wasn't anything I could do to stop Klint from coming onto Brickipedia and messing with chat/vandalise (I wasn't aware of any vandalism until the next day). Ultimately there was no basis to my block and the chatban, only assumptions. It was an honest mistake on behalf of the administrators on here. LCF (talk!) 21:41, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
      • Okay, I guess. I know I did an investigation, but I don't remember exactly what came out of it...I should probably record these things somewhere. You'd probably be a fine sysop, but because of these circumstances I don't think I can support. So, neutral, I guess. Berrybrick (talk) 21:57, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
  • So...why now? I have no doubt you'd be good at it, but I'm curious as to why now seemed like the best time, and why do you now use LCF again? :P CJC95 (talk) 22:29, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
    • I chose to run now because Sam brought up that I've never run for administrator on here, despite having been on the site for 4+ years, and having successfully become a CM, patroller, etc. in the past. That and the fact that there's a notable lack of administrators on after 3:00 UTC. In regards to my signature, I've actually been using this "LCF" signature for the past three years. LCF (talk!) 22:25, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
      • Why use LCF if you renamed to Edward Nigma though :P CJC95 (talk) 23:02, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
        • I think the signature is very simple, so I've had no need to update it since 2013. I still go by "LCF" or "LCF119" on several other sites as well, so the name certainly hasn't gone away entirely. :P LCF (talk!) 23:11, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
