Brickipedia News:First look at 76042 Avenger's Helicarrier

Rumor has it that better images of 76042 Avenger's Helicarrier are going to be released later today, but a LEGO store calendar has given us our first look at the anticipated set a few hours early:

76042 will retail for USD 349.99 and be available for purchase by VIP members on February 17th, or on March 1st for regular customers.

We can now see that the set includes five minifigures: Hawkeye, Black Widow, new variants for Captain America and Nick Fury, an exclusive Maria Hill, and 12 "statue" figs (Cap, Fury, Hawkeye, Iron Man, and eight SHIELD agents). The article also notes that the set includes 2,996 pieces and will be on display at New York Toy Fair.

12 useless figures and no Coulson? Not impressed. Would have also preferred generic SHIELD Agents to Black Widow and Hawkeye. At least they've finally made a version of Cap that actually looks half-decent.

As for the set itself, I'll have to have a better look at it before I judge it. But it looks pretty much as I expected- it looks like a Helicarrier :P

Coulson is an easy figure to make if you have a suit/tie and Bruce Wayne's hair though.

It looks awesome! I love the figures and trophy figures, although I would have like some SHIELD Agents as minifigures. The manual spinning rotor function and the command center looks cool too. :D

I really like this set - I feel like being thankful for what we get is the least we should do. The small details look cool, and it even has a Technic function :-o

$350 US? $400 Canadian? = >$500 Australian. There goes my chances of getting this one :( if anybody wants to give it to me as a late Christmas present I'm up for it :P

Lets sum this up with a single word:

Awful.

Just awful. For the price it is going at, I expect an ultra detailed minifigure scale model. Not a microscale minature display piece. I have no idea how there are 3000 pieces in this model. It looks more like 800.

Good thing, it is bad. Save's my money for Ninjago - the sets look fantastic
