Brickipedia News:LEGO shares 2016 colour palette: Can you build with all the colors of the bricks?

It's how the best of us started, mashing LEGO colors together like I am mashing keys into award-winning prose flowery like a floral cushion.
LEGO was kind enough to give us a look at their color palette today, releasing this new chart which shows the shades in production. The image is humongous if you would like to see it larger.
The design has been updated from the last time they shared their palette back in 2011.
To save you from trouble, the only difference I can find is that Light Stone Grey has been replaced by Olive Green. Olive Green was first introduced in 2013 with Legends of Chima. LEGO generally tries to keep their palette consistent, explaining the removal of Light Stone Grey; too many different shades being cited as one of the issues that nearly led to ruin back in the late nineties and early 2000s, so not seeing a lot of differences isn't surprising. This new chart is easier to read though; with colors placed more intuitively (though some of the transparent shades don't quite match up with their columns terribly well, in my opinion).
As for colors that may be missing, the only ones which jump out to me are the "glitter" colors sometimes used in mini-doll themes, but those are the same as the regular transparent colors; just with glitter mixed in for maximum prettiness. Additionally, a shade of copper seems to be absent, as parts of that color sometimes appear in Minifigures and The Hobbit. Those elements however actually seem to be painted more often than not, for whatever reason, and this is the moulding palette. Who knows what secret shades may exist only in ink? Will the world ever know?
In the meantime, you can play with this interactive palette at Brickset to find pieces in all of these colors.
