Eurobricks user Carlos S has revealed the first pictures of 71006 The Simpsons House, based on The Simpsons animated series, currently in its 25th season.

The set includes the entire Simpsons nuclear family (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie) as well as their neighbor, Ned Flanders. It includes 2523 pieces and the price is currently unknown. According to a couple different Eurobricks members who have spoken with LEGO store managers, it will be available on January 17th for VIP members. The wider release date and price are unknown at the moment.

71600 will be the only Simpsons set released, not counting a collectable minifigure series. LEGO's marketing director, Mads Nipper, warned that when the theme was announced that the product launch would be small, but could be enlarged if response was positive enough.

Why? I quite like the house, even if it is Simpsons-themed.

I think the set looks great (although I'm no Simpsons fan). It's got a ton of detail, an is extremely accurate from what I can tell.

That's the thing. I don't see the detail.

I'm not sure how you don't see it—look on the inside. Plenty of detail in each room. The outside has good detail too. I personally like how the windows are done. It's not supposed to have too much detail, since it's from a cartoon, but the set does a good job including a heck of a lot in one house set. Usually any house in LEGO doesn't have nearly as much as this has. The only one comparable in my opinion is the Monster Fighters Haunted House.

It has a lot of accessories which is nice. All the rooms you want are almost as detailed as in the show!

I don't see the detail because I don't consider a lot of space being filled with accessories detailed. To me detailed means that it is complex, inventive, clever...things like that. There are a few small things, like the vacuum cleaner that I guess could fit the description, but I'd consider the set furnished, not detailed.

I know that the show doesn't allow for that and I think that the designers did a great job with what they had to work with, but to me, it looks like a whole lot with a whole little. The house just doesn't make a good set at this scale for me.

I do like the bay windows, but it's not exciting since I remember that technique appearing back in Green Grocer. (Was that eight years ago now? :S)

I'll reassess my opinion when we get better images, but until then I am going to continue thinking what I do about it.
