Anyone getting tired of BIONICLE news? Despite the constant leaks and "reveals" there is still so much we do not know about the theme's return, mostly the story. While sifting through source code for the LEGO.com videos section, BZPower has discovered that the new setting seen in the box art for the five masters and Lord of the Skull Spiders which we have seen is an island known as Okoto. A sentence gleaned by BZP reads "LEGO BIONICLE is an epic legend set on the mystical island of Okoto where elemental heroes fight for masks of power against a rising evil," which, naturally, tells us very little about whether the old continuity will remain intact, but does imply a return to a similar setting which was used on the island of Mata Nui, where the first three years of the BIONICLE story took place. The only other things we know for sure about the story are that the "elemental heroes" are the original six Toa (Tahu, Kopaka, Gali, Pohatu, Lewa, and Onua) and that the Mask of Creation will be involved.

However, the name drop of Okoto is an interesting one. Earlier in the week an FAQ about BIONICLE leaked on the TTV podcast message boards (which our policy refutes us from linking to) mentioned that Okoto was the setting. Due to the dubious nature of the leak and a couple of inconsistencies among the questions, people were skeptical about its authenticity, but it did mention a few things such as the existence of mini-movies, books written by Greg Farshtey, five more sets in the second half of the year, that Hero Factory will be cancelled, and suggested that the word "Toa" would indeed be used. This find would seem to vindicate that the FAQ did have some truth to it.

Whew. We get to keep Toa. I'm subscribed to TTV so I knew about to this, but it's good to know it's true.

Oh, another thing I forgot to mention. I spent a few minutes searching for "Okoto" online and didn't really find anything aside from an odd Urban Dictionary definition (odd in that it might actually fit) and a couple of sites which said it was a Japanese word for "man" or "boy," sort of like how "Mata Nui" translates to "Great Face" in Maori. However, I then checked a couple of Japanese-English dictionaries and "Okoto" did not have an entry, so I'm not sure if it is an actual word....

In the afformentioned TTV podcast they were saying something about it translating to "balance", which would make a lot of sense considering the old storyline.

Dang it, yet another thing I have to incorporate in my satirical leaked TV script. I'll have to really work on it fast now before anything new is revealed.

Oh, wait, did I not mention that I was writing a satirical leaked TV script? Well, forget I said anything...

I guess it's better than reusing an old island where they'd probably contradict the old storyline and have to milk it for new story info from an old island.
