Star Lord, otherwise known as Peter Quill, is a founding member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Background Information
Peter Quill is the Earth child of Meredith Quill and Spartoi child to his father, J'son of Spartax, of whom Peter had never known for most of his life. J'son left Meredith a while after staying on Earth for 6 months following his space ship crashing on the planet's surface, never being able to see his child born.
After his mother passes away from cancer, Peter Quill runs away from his home, only to be abducted by the Ravagers, a group of alien bounty hunters. Peter was in possession of one of his father's Element guns, and the Ravagers believed it to be worth a lot of credits. However, instead of disposing Quill, the Ravagers leader known as Yondu takes the boy in, and he trains as a Ravager.
Many years later, Peter abandons the Ravagers and goes solo, leading his own life. However, he gets embroiled in the Kree/Skrull war. He eventually is taken prisoner by the Kree and spends 2 months in the infamous prison the Kyln, before breaking out in an elaborate escape. In these 2 months, Peter acquaints himself with fellow inmates Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer and Mantis, each with their own goals, and unintentionally form the group called the "Guardians of the Galaxy" by the Nova Corps later on.
