To keep the other page less crouded, I decided to split the mascot profit into sections. Part 1 is weither we should green light this project or not, so support or object!

The following section is preserved as an archive. Please do not modify it.

Vote score: +5

  • Support as the nominator Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3Friends girls.jpg
  • I guess? CJC95 (talk) 17:42, 2 November 2014 UTC
  • Oppose: Really don't see much of a point, and probably would look unproffesional. --LK901 18:00, 2 November 2014 (UTC) (edited 21:59, 18 November 2014 (UTC))
    • Were a site about a kids toy, we're not a fincace company! It won't look unprofessional if we do it right, as this sites for all ages :S Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3Friends girls.jpg
I just don't want one. I already changed my vote to oppose. --LK901 17:31, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Support. Gotta love them mascots. --Knight
  • Support In fact I want to go through my LEGO collection and see if I can get some inspiration for one. I'll try and think of something today. -NBP3.0 (talk) 19:39, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Support Brikkyy13 (talk) 21:19, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Depends on how widely it's going to be used. If it's just some fun thing within the community- neutral- it doesn't appeal to be personally, but if people like it, whatever. But if it's going to appear in a much wider scope, such as in the logo, on the main page, or anywhere "official", strong oppose- it would just come off as looking unprofessional to me. • Oppose. I just see no benefit of it, and I'd probably end up being the one who'd be in charge of rendering/drawing it like I am for basically every other logo/graphic on this site. There's surely something more effective or beneficial we could be spending our time on rather than a mascot. --ToaMeiko (talk) 00:00, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
    • I was gonna act like that wasn't true, but...you're probably right. -NBP3.0 (talk) 16:43, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
      • I'm personally hoping we won't focus on the mascot too much. So long as we don't agonize over a design, I think it will be fine. And as for you rendering/drawing it, let me take this one, provided my models meet the standard. BrickfilmNut (talk) 17:41, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
        • A mascot would be fun to make something were seriously lacking lately. :P And who says you'll be doing the drawing, I'm sure some users will enjoy doing that, and if not we'll all pull together to give you a well deserved break! :) Also lego might have an image got us we could base our mascot on. I found a site list of benifits of mascots:

1. Increased exposure of company/site for us Highly effective in creating awareness, building loyalty and importantly, selling the product Mascots create media exposure and excitement. At community events, the mascot is often photographed for print media or filmed for TV news

2. Appeal to the human psyche A mascot's personality can distinguish a brand. I.e. The Mack Trucks bulldog mascot evokes toughness and strength. I think an owl would represent us as they are hardworking, versitile, and full of information

3. Build brand recognition of a product Generate goodwill for the brand Act as an ambassador for the brand by providing a voice for the company's social conscience Can act as a rallying icon for community identification (for example, baseball fans doing the "Tomahawk Chop") Create a more memorable marketing hook for promotional campaigns

4. Serve as the vehicle to quickly remind readers/editors who you are and what you stand for They create the necessary positive image need for a message campaign to be a success

5. Attract new potential readers/editors to learn more about your site

6. Incentive to get families to visit (if it's cute!/marketable)

7. Create enthusiasm for any fundraising event and participation in a program

8. It would be fun to make as a community.

9. Wikia dosnt have one ;)

I added the last 2 myself Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3Friends girls.jpg

          • I'd be happy to attempt to make one for us. Maybe it can come down to a competition between users. BrikkyyTalk
  • I'm tempted to be sarcastic and cynical, but I can support without doing that. Berrybrick (talk) 00:16, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
    • But I like sarcastic and cynical. :( -NBP3.0 (talk) 16:43, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Oppose because that is needles and i agree with another oppose above --Schtickman (talk) 16:28, 3 November 2014 (UTC)--Schtickman (talk) 16:28, 3 November 2014 (UTC)--Schtickman (talk) 16:28, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
    • So even if it is needless we don't loose out on anything, I can only see benifets from this project and you don't give much of an argument. Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3Friends girls.jpg
  • Support. This is one of those cases where, at very least, I don't think any harm could be done so long as we don't focus all the community's effort into this. BrickfilmNut (talk) 17:41, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Support. It would have been really cool. Any status on the mascot it-/her-/himself? Could be like a half guy half girl? Sibs ~ It's Back! ~ Advent!
    • If it gets to +8 a competition over who can create the mascot will be held.
  • Neutral. I say meh for now. ----Jay 18:48, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Comments[edit source]

  • How many votes does this need to be green lit? Also since we're planning a podcast the sooner this mascot is done the better the podcast looks. Soupperson1 Friends are Forever! <3Friends girls.jpg
    • Until there's a consensus, which is pretty much has. Maybe give it another day/day and a half to round out the 2 weeks? :S NovaHawk 12:58, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
Currently +5, since I've changed to oppose. --LK901 22:01, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
I think its passed by now. How are we going to attempt this? BrikkyyTalk
