8979 Malum is a BIONICLE set released in January 2009.

Malum is almost completely red and grey. Malum wields two red fire claws and a shoulder-mounted Thornax launcher, and has a life counter for the "BIONICLE action figure game".

Background[edit | edit source]

Malum was exiled when he tried to kill Strakk, who had surrendered to him in an arena match. He has then since wandered through the wastelands of Bara Magna, living with a pack of Vorox. Some time later, the Vorox attacked the Glatorians Gresh, Tarix, and Strakk as a request by Malum himself, but he ordered a retreat. Malum wields two fire claws and a Thornax launcher. He also has a lack of honour and fights dirty, which makes him a dangerous opponent. He is the last Glatorian anybody would ever want to meet.

Malum is the Latin word for both apple and bad.
