Background[edit | edit source]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details for Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu follow.

Harumi used to live in Ninjago City with her parents as a young, avid fan of the Ninja. However, after the Great Devourer’s attack on the city took her home and parents away, she felt as though she had died inside and grew to resent the Ninja. Her worship switched to that of Lord Garmadon, as he was the one that ultimately destroyed the Devourer after he was bitten by the Devourer and it was his revenge when he was a child when he and Wu were best of friends and training with Wu and One day while they were practicing their skills, Wu lost his katana and his older brother sought to find it, knowing their father would not be pleased. Garmadon found the katana after clambering over the wall, however, he is bitten by a small green snake.. She was later adopted by the Emperor/King and Empress/Queen and became Princess of Ninjago. While locked up in the palace, she trained to be smarter and stronger than before, started a crime group known as the Sons of Garmadon, and adopted the alias ‘The Quiet One’.

Through the Sons of Garmadon, she acquired the three Oni Masks, killing her adoptive parents in the process, all while masquerading as an ally of the Ninja and serving as a love interest to Lloyd Garmadon. She eventually betrayed the Ninja and Royal Family and used the masks to resurrect Lord Garmadon, then helped him take over as Emperor and King of Ninjago and Harumi and Empress and Queen of Ninjago. During a fateful battle with Lloyd's Resistance movement, Harumi attempted to flee a crumbling building but stopped to help save a family from the same fate as her own, but was killed by the collapse of the building.

Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu[edit | edit source]

Lloyd mentions Harumi as he is recounting his history to "Red", unaware that the wolf is in fact Akita of the Formlings. Upon learning the truth about her identity, Lloyd is upset, though Akita retorts that she didn't ask for him to recount his life story. While the pair are briefly bickering, Akita bitingly questions whether Lloyd's plans for defeating the Ice Emperor include telling him about Harumi.

Prime Empire[edit | edit source]

In "Stop, Drop and Side Scroll", a computerized duplicate of Harumi is created to face off with Lloyd in Prime Empire. Stunned by her appearance, Lloyd is initially caught off guard and left unable to fight back against her. However, when Lloyd questions “Harumi” about their time together, she is unable to recall what they did the night that they first met. Realizing that the avatar is not the real Harumi, Lloyd is able to fight back against her. He succeeds in defeating her and winning the Keytana for the Ninja, but Avatar Harumi costs Lloyd his last in-game life.

Master of the Mountain[edit | edit source]

Upon meeting Vania in "Into the Dark", Lloyd becomes suspicious of her and warns Cole not to trust her. Cole dismisses his concerns, and then wonder aloud whether Lloyd's attitude is based on what happened between him and Harumi.

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

In "A Painful Promise", Harumi-cloaked and hooded and wearing a blue and white kabuki mask-speaks to Aspheera via a hologram projected by a Crystal Spider and offers her a place on the Council of the Crystal King. In "Ninjago City vs. Ninja", . In "Kryptarium Prison Blues", Harumi appears again to make an offer of membership on the council to Pythor, freeing him from Kryptarium in the process. In "The Fifth Villain", Harumi-still in her masked guise-uses a Crystal Spider hologram to communicate with Lloyd, who is in disguise as the Mechanic; upon his acceptance of her offer, she instructs him to follow the spider to the council meeting.

In "The Council of the Crystal King", Harumi appears to the assembled members of the council and reveals that she is not the Crystal King, but his ambassador. When Vangelis demeans her role, she warns him that the gifts of the Crystal King and his freedom from imprisonment can easily be revoked. She then reveals, via footage projected by a Crystal Spider, that Lloyd is an impostor, prompting the other villains to attack him. As he lies on the verge of unconsciousness, Harumi questions whether or not he can sense her true identity, and repeats her spider song as she removes her mask and reveals her face to him, much to his horror.
