Deathstroke is a Super Heroes minifigure who appears in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and the portable version of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, and was released physically for the first time in 2015. He is the alter ego of Slade Wilson.

Description[edit | edit source]

In LEGO Batman 2, Deathstroke wears a version of his classic costume. His tight mask is depicted by a regular minifigure head with printing to segment the dark blue side from the orange one. Both sides have eyes, but only one has a lens. He wears a dark blue bodysuit with a ligher blue midsection and contrasting orange gloves and boots. A bandolier is swung across his chest and an orange belt holds up a pair of orange trunks over his pants. He has a design on the back of his torso, but his head is left blank.

Deathstroke can can also grapple from one point to another and can utilise stealth mode. He attacks enemies with his silver katana at close range and with his dual guns from a distance.

In LEGO Batman 2, Deathstroke retains the same general design, but is updated significantly. His head has a design on the back, specifically the orange and blue division with two ties bonded in a knot, but the most noticeable addition is the separate helmet piece. It is split between black and orange, rather than blue and black, and has only one eye, which is colored red. Aside from that, the designs on Deathstroke's bodyparts is polished, but changed minimally.

Deathstroke still carries a blaster and silver katana which alternate depending on the distance he is attacking from in LEGO Batman 3, but he also carries a bo staff which can be thrown as a weapon or into sockets to allow him to swing over gaps. Deathstroke is able to jump higher than standard characters and also search for clues when he senses them.

Deathstroke's alter ego, Slade Wilson, based on his appearance on Arrow appears as DLC for the game. He wears a tactical vest over a damaged grey bodysuit. He is tanned, has an unshaven black beard, a scar around his eye, and a crew cut. Slade carries a blaster.

A version of Deathstroke based on his appearance in The New 52 is included in The Squad Pack DLC. He has the same helmet piece as his regular version and wears dark blue scaly chain-mail-like armour with orange shoulder pads and straps. A bomb collar is placed around his neck.

Background[edit | edit source]

Slade Wilson joined the US military at age 16 and rose to the rank of major. After serving in the Korean War, Wilson was sent to Mount Washington for further training under Captain Adeline Kane, which he excelled in, leading Kane to mentor him privately in the art of war. During these sessions they fell in love, and married a few months before Wilson was deployed to Vietnam.

Due to his skill, Slade was selected to test a super soldier serum which increased his strength and reflexes. The process was successful for Wilson, but shortly later he broke protocol for rescuing his friend Wintergreen from a suicide mission, and Wilson was dishonorably discharged.

However, Wilson continued to put his abilities to use as a mercenary, using the codename Deathstroke. He kept this identity secret from his wife and children. A rival mercenary named Jackal did discover Wilson's family life and kidnapped his son, Joseph. Deathstroke was able to rescue Joseph from Jackal's henchmen, but was unable to stop them from slashing his throat, which rendered Joseph mute.

This caused Adeline to realize that Slade was Deathstroke, and tried to shoot him by shooting him in the right eye, but he survived due to his enhanced durability.

Wilson's other son, Grant, ran away from Adeline's home at the age of 17. After Starfire and the alien slavers chasing her destroyed Grant's apartment and it became the battleground between the Teen Titans who were trying to rescue Starfire and the slavers. Grant was denied compensation for the damages. The shady organization H.I.V.E. offered to give Grant a similar treatment to what his father had. Grant then adopted the identity of Ravager and targeted the Teen Titans, fighting alongside Deathstroke (who he did not recognized as Slade) to fulfill a contract for H.I.V.E., but Ravager's abilities were unstable and he died in Deathstroke's arms.

Deathstroke blamed the Titans for his son's death, and vowed to fulfill the contract on their heads, no matter the cost (which had been H.I.V.E.'s plan the entire time). He recruited Tara Markov, a teen mercenary with earth-based powers, to infiltrate the Teen Titans as Terra. Terra collected their secrets and sold them to Deathstroke, which allowed them to take out members Wonder Girl, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Starfire, and Raven. Nightwing barely escaped his own capture and met with Adeline and Joseph and Titans Tower. Adeline explained Deahstroke's origins and plot to him, including Terra's betrayal. Nightwing and Joseph (using the codename Jericho) confronted Deathstroke and Terra, and defeated them when Jericho used his own powers to possess his father. Terra believed that Slade had betrayed her, and went insane. She used her powers to try and destroy the H.I.V.E. facility they were at to kill everyone in it, including herself, but Deahstroke and the Titans escaped.

Deathstroke, having technically fulfilled his contract by delivering the Titans to H.I.V.E., stopped harassing them. He continued his career as a mercenary, now renowned as the world's best. He successfully went toe-to-toe with a Justice League deployment of The Flash, Green Lantern, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Zatanna, Hawkman, The Atom, and Elongated Man, and was only defeated when Green Arrow desperately stuck a broken arrow into his bad eye and the rest of the team proceeded to tackle Deathstroke. After this episode, Deathstroke came to resent Arrow and began to harass him.

Deathstroke was one of the Secret Society's founding members. He manipulated his illegitimate daughter Rose into wanting to become like her father, and she took the name Ravager. Nightwing infiltrated the Society, and began training Ravager against the way Deathstroke wanted, and rescued her when being with Slade became too dangerous. During the Battle of Metropolis, Deathstroke fought with Batman, Robin, and Nightwing. When Batman asked why he would aid the Society, since it was out of his character, Nightwing said it was because his family was either dead, or had left him. Deathstroke angrily proclaimed that this was all Nightwing's fault, and attacked him before Batman knocked Slade unconscious.

Deathstroke began manipulating several teen heroes afterwards and formed his own counter to the Teen Titans. He secretly planned that Ravager and Jericho would grow closer to and be more trusted by their teammates in the Teen Titans after defeating Deathstroke's, and then have a family.

As part of a plan to ruin Green Arrow, Deathstroke attempted to blackmail Terra's brother Geo-Force into becoming his spy within the Justice League. Unlike his sister, Geo-Force refused to betray his teammates and warned Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman that Deathstroke was planning on crashing Arrow and Black Canary's wedding with an army of villains.

After the timeline is reset, Deathstroke is a member of the Secret Society of Super-Villains. After the Crime Syndicate invades Earth and disarms the Justice League, Lex Luthor convinces him to join the insurgent Injustice League.
