482 And m. stemme or LEGO Duck is a Wooden Toys set released in 1935 and produced until 1957. It contains a wooden model of a duck, and was one of the first toys ever made by LEGO. It is also arguably the most popular of the wooden toys ever produced by LEGO. It features rolling wheels and a string with a knob so children can pull it along.

Description[edit | edit source]

The colours of the original duck by Ole Kirk Christiansen include an orange mouth, black head, tail, and wings, and a red body. The duck sits on a black board which stands on four red wheels.

When the wheels move, the beak of the Duck opens and closes by means of a cam connected to the wheels, meaning it was made with some construction elements other than wood. It could also make a quacking noise when pulled along.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Because individual ducks were painted by workers, there are many variations to the color.
  • When the original LEGO factory burned down, the duck was amongst the first toys to have its instructions redrawn.
