9694 Colour Sensor is a Dacta Mindstorms set released in 2010. It includes a colour sensor piece to connect to Mindstorms robots.
Technical Description
The colour sensor was a new piece at the time of release. When connected to a Mindstorms NXT, it provides the ability for a robot to tell the differences between colours. This enabled programmers to set algorithms such as "Activate motors A and B when said colour is detected in reflect mode by the colour sensor". The sensor could be set in two different modes: reflective colour (when a light is beamed onto an object and its colour is read) or ambient colour (merely reading the colour of an object from light already in the room).
