The Flash is a DC Universe superhero first introduced in 1940 as Jay Garrick. The character was later revamped during the Silver Age as Barry Allen, a police scientist granted super speed after being doused in lightning struck chemicals. Barry was a founding member of the Justice League, but later died in the Crisis on Infinite Earths, when he was replaced by his sidekick Wally West.
