''' Hector Barbossa''' is a Minifigure for the upcoming theme [[Pirates of the Caribbean]].

== Background ==
Hector Barbossa served as First mate on the Black Pearl under the command of [[Jack Sparrow|Captain Jack Sparrow]], until he raised a mutiny against him. He later marooned Jack on an island and took command over the Black Pearl. Soon, he and his crew became cursed by the Aztec gold they found on the Isla de Muerta, meaning that under the moonlight they were revealed as undead skeletons, and were therefore almost invincible, being able to walk under water and be shot or stabbed without dying. The curse could only be lifted once all 882 Aztec coins that were stolen are returned to the chest they came from, along with a blood sacrifice from each crew member. Before realising the cursed nature of the gold, the pirates threw 'Bootstrap' Bill Turner overboard, (without realising he had what would later become the last piece of gold, around his neck). The pirates collected all but Turner's coin, and thus they need the blood of a descendant of Turner to break the curse.

Eleven years later the curse was broken by William Turner, Bootstrap's son. Rendered mortal, Barbossa was killed by Jack Sparrow on the Isla de Muerta. 

In the second movie, Tia Dalma, a voodoo priestess, brought Barbossa back to life. He later helped as part of the rescue crew to sail to the World's End, and bring Jack back from Davy Jones' locker. Barbossa fought in the battle during Calipso's Maelstrom, where he killed Morey by beheading and stabbing him. He also, being the captain of the ship, married off Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. After the battle, Barbossa mutinied against Jack again and took over the Black Pearl. 

In the fourth movie, he has become a privateer of King George and has als lost his right leg.
