Iron Man, or Tony Stark, is an upcoming minifigure for the Super Heroes theme, specifically in the Marvel subtheme.[1]
Description
Iron Man's suit is in a similar printed design to some of the astronauts from the Space theme. The electromagnet is shown in the centre of the chest plate. He has a helmet that can flip up. His preliminary face printing is similar to Jack Sparrow's. Two transparent blue studs can be attached to his hands for repulsors, and two other transparent blue pieces for jets coming out of the legs.
Background
Tony is the son of billionaire weapons manafacturer Howard Stark and the owner of Stark Industries, his father's weapons company. At first Tony was arrogant and selfish, but after being captured by terrorists he built a giant mechanical suit to escape from a prison cave. After this his eyes were opened after the death of his friend Yensen and he ordered Stark Industries to discontinue weapons manafacture, much to the dismay of his friends. Meanwhile, along with the aid of his supercomputer J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony built in secret a perfected Mark II of the Iron Man suit he used to escape the cave. He tested this, built a Mark III and painted this red and gold. After defeating his business partner, Obadiah Stane who had struck a deal with the terrorists and rebuilt the original Mark I , he revealed himself to the world as Iron Man. After three more marks of suit and a few adventures against robotic engineer Ivan Vanko/Whiplash with his friend James Rhodes (who got the Mark II metal suit, painted it black and added several weapons) who became fellow hero War Machine, he was approached by Nick Fury and joined The Avengers, which also consists of Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye.
When wearing his suit, Tony has the ability to shoot charged laser blasts out of his gauntlet and fire mini-missiles. By connecting with his home computer JARVIS, the suit allows him to fly via rocket boosters in his feet.
Notes
- His helmet can flip up.
- His preliminary face, which is double-sided, is similar to Jack Sparrow's cursed variation.
- The prototype and the brick built statue is him in the Mark 3 suit, but in the magazine he is in his Mark 6 suit. It is unknown which one he will be released as.
