Description

Mark VI

Iron Man's helmet is dark red and gold; designed to look like it does in the film, and to flip up and reveal Tony's double-sided face (smiling and angry). His body is entirely dark red. On the front is the electromagnet in a triangular shape, with a black lines to depict the armour and a little gold on the sides. He has back printing with black lines depicting the armour ans three gold strips arranged in an arrow-like shape in the centre. Also, he has leg printing showing his gold shins. He also has two transparent blue studs that can be attached to his hands for repulsors, and two transparent blue 1x1 cylinder bricks for jets coming out of the legs.

This suit is based on the Mark VI suit he wears in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers.

Mark VII

Iron Man's helmet is dark red and gold; designed to look like it does in the film with a visor that can flip up to reveal Tony's double-sided face (happy and angry). His body is entirely dark red. The front has the electromagnet in a circular shape, with a black line to depict the armour and gold on the sides and in the middle of the torso. He has back printing depicting the back of his armour and a lot more gold. Also he has leg printing showing his gold shins with grey in the middle. He has two transparent blue studs that can be attached to his hands for repulsors, and two 1x1 cylinder bricks for jets coming out of the legs.

This suit is based on the Mark VII suit he wears in The Avengers.

Comic Book Suit

Iron Man in this variation has a normal head printed to look like his mask (as opposed to the helmet he gets in other variations). He has torso printing depicting the comic version of his suit with the electromagnet being a circle, with several smaller ones. He has back printing on the head and torso. His head has the back of his mask and the torso depicts the back of his armour. He is dark red and gold, with his hands being red.

This version is based on his Bleeding Edge suit, which appears in dozens of comics.

Background

Iron Man

In Iron Man, Tony is the son of billionaire weapons manufacturer Howard Stark and the owner of Stark Industries, his father's weapons company. At first Tony was arrogant and selfish, but after being captured by terrorists he built a giant mechanical suit to escape from a prison cave. Because of this, his eyes were opened after the death of his friend Yensen and he saw first hand where his weapons were going, he ordered Stark Industries to discontinue weapons manufacturing, much to the dismay of his friends. Meanwhile, along with the aid of his supercomputer J.A.R.V.I.S. or Just A Rather Very Intelligent System, Tony built in secret a perfected Mark II of the Iron Man suit he used to escape the cave. He tested this, built a Mark III and painted this red and gold. After defeating his business partner, Obadiah Stane who had struck a deal with the terrorists and rebuilt the original Mark I as Iron Monger, he revealed himself to the world as Iron Man. Nick Fury, commander of S.H.I.E.L.D., then approached him and asked him to join the Avengers in the future, but Stark declined.

The Incredible Hulk

As a ploy by S.H.I.E.L.D., Tony was sent to talk General Ross out of offering the Abomination as a part of the Avengers, and he was successful.

Iron Man 2

In Iron Man 2, Tony is protecting the Iron Man suits from the government and builds three more Marks of the suit. His father left behind for him the technology to build the triangular chestpiece because he is dying from the Paladium poisoning caused by his old chestpiece. During all of this, he battled against robotic engineer Ivan Vanko/Whiplash with his friend James Rhodes (who stole the Mark II metal suit, painted it black and added several weapons) who became fellow hero War Machine, and the assistance of Nick Fury and Black Widow. He was approached by Nick Fury for a third time and was disqualified for the Avengers, but was asked to stay on as technical support and Tony declined.

The Avengers

In The Avengers, he is in New York City overseeing the construction of Stark Tower, including isolating it from the grid. Phil Coulson comes to recruit Stark to look over Selvig's notes to help locate the Tesseract. Pepper leaves for D.C. and Stark looks at a diagram of the Tesseract.

He appears at Stuttgart to save Captain America and fight Loki. On the way back to the Helicarrier, Thor comes and takes Loki, prompting Tony and Cap to fight Thor. Aboard the carrier, Tony places devices to help him break into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s database. He then helps Bruce Banner locate the Tesseract and to talk Banner into using the Hulk as hero. He questions Steve and why S.H.I.E.L.D. needs them now and not earlier. During the attack on the Helicarrier, Steve and Tony try and fix the destroyed rotor, which they are successful. Tony mourns Coulson's death and realizes that Loki wants to them out publicly and uses Stark Tower as a power source for the portal machine. He heads to it and informs Loki that he has made the other five Avengers mad, Loki tries to possess Tony, but his arc reactor protects him from Loki's magic. Loki then throw Stark out a window and Tony gets the Mark VII, informing Loki he has also made fallen Agent Phil mad.

He joins the other Avengers (Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye) to help stop Loki and his Chitauri army from taking over the Earth. Captain America orders Stark to patrol the area, where he takes out many Chitauri. He then intercepts a nuclear weapon and manually aims it at the alien mother ship. The effort involved forces his suit to shut down, resulting in an uncontrolled descent back to Earth. The Hulk safely catches him. He helps Thor return to Asgard. Afterwards, he drove off with Banner.

Iron Man 3

Tony Stark deals with pefecting his newest suit, while proctecting Pepper and his personal life from the Mandarin , the Extremis virus created by Aldrich Killian and Maya Hansen, and Eric Savin. Aiding him in the fight is his best friend Rhodey/ War Machine( in a new Iron Patriot inspired suit).

Notes

  • His preliminary face at Comic Con was the same as Jack Sparrow's cursed variation.
  • His preliminary face at the NY Toy Fair was Bruce Wayne's old face.
  • The mask doesn't flip open like it does in the films. In the films, the chin stays put and the face pivots up.
  • There are different variations of him in the two LEGO movie posters, one has his helmet with the visor up, and the other has the hair of the Weight Lifter minifigure.
  • On preliminary box images that appeared at the Toy Fair, Iron Man's helmet was shown printed onto a standard minifigure head, which suggests that this was an original concept for the Iron Man minifigure.
