- “You will be loyal to me now!”
- ―Skales to Slithraa
Skales is the current general of the Hypnobrai snake tribe, formerly second in command to Slithraa.
Background
Skales started out in the new Ninjago movie, Rise of the Snakes, as the second in command of the Hypnobrai when Lloyd Garmadon first came to the tribe. From the start, Skales was unhappy with the childish acts that they had to perform for Lloyd, the first being raiding an entire village for candy. When the ninjas attacked the Hypnobrai at Jamonicai village, Skales hypnotized Cole. He could then see what ever Cole was seeing. But Nya stomped on him before he could fully hypnotize Cole. After the attack he argues with Slithraa about Lloyd's control over the Tribe, but the general refuses to listen. When Mezmo call's him coward, he reveals to him that he can now see whatever Cole sees whenever Cole blinks his eyes. In the show Lloyd has told Slithraa to make him a treehouse for him. Skales then talks to Rattla in secret. He tells him that he can see Cole feeding his dragon. Rattla is astounded. Skales tells him he will use his control over Cole for "his best interests". Later, the ninjas attack the treehouse. Skales uses his control over Cole to make him turn against the other ninjas to distract them. He than sneaks up on Lloyd and a leaver that pulls a trap door, causing Lloyd fall into a cage. Later, the Tribe is shown walking back to the tomb with the snake staff. When Slithraa wants the staff back. He tells him "I guess we'll have to fight for it, in the Slither Pit!". Skales and Slithraa then fight in the Sither Pit where Mezmo (the judge) gives them two weapons. Skales chooses two swords. Slithraa takes a shield and a pickaxe. They then engage in battle.Slithraa throws his pickaxe at Skales, but misses and hits the wall of the Slither Pit and makes 3 icicles fall on Slithraa but destroys them with his shield and Skales begins to move his whole body in an entrancing way(also known to Rattla as Fang-Kwon-Do and that is probably based on taikwondo). While the general is dazed, Skales defeats him. When he grabs the staff, his legs glow, and Skales legs are replaced by a tail and becomes the new general. Slithraa's tail glows too and is replaced by legs. He is bumped down to second in command. Skales banishes Lloyd from the tribe and tells him to never return.
Later in The Snake King, Skales is seen constantly with Pythor P. Chumsworth. After they discover the city, Pythor tells Skales that if he just does whatever Pythor told him to, than he will be second-in-command of the entire Serpentine. During the battle between the generals and Pythor, Skales gives him the flute, and in Episode 7, Tick Tock, Skales has been promoted to Second In Command of the entire serpentine army under Pythor. He sticks close to Pythor to continue to serve in his rank, and he seems to hope to be a second king too.
LEGO.com Bio:
Warrior and second in command of the Hypnobrai tribe. Skales masters the ancient art of Fang-kwon-do. When he sees Slithraa fall under Lloyd’s control, Skales sees an opportunity to fulfill his own ambitions for control. Raiding villages for candy is beneath him, not to mention a complete waste of his Hypbnobrai powers. Skales sets his own cunning plans in motion. He schemes to strike at the Ninja from within and patiently waits for events to unfold in his favor.

- Skales was driving the Serpentine Bus
- He is in the Ninjago cards "Hypnotize", "Surrender", "Lazy Ninja" along with Acidicus and "Backup Plan".
- In the March-April 2012 issue of LEGO Magazine Skales is mistaken as Slithraa.
