Official description

Desperate to save his daughter, Tormak betrays the Phoenix and steals the Map known as the Artifact. But the theft does not go as planned. Charred in an unexpected explosion, Tormak now finds himself pursued by both the Phoenix and the Hunters.

Summary

"In the magical world of Chima, Eris is still haunted by visions of the mysterious panther. Laval and Tormak lead a daring attack on the Hunter's ice fort. Using the phoenix boy Flinx's growing fire powers, the ice mountain is destroyed. Everyone captured by the Hunters is rescued from the ice, except for Li'ella who is nowhere to be found. Sir Fangar instead plans to marry the lioness and make her his queen." - Opening monologue

Following the destruction of their ice fortress, the Hunters vanish from the surface of Chima. Rhinos, ravens, eagles, wolves, and gorillas search Chima for them, but they are nowhere to be found. Eglor reports this to a distraught Laval in the lion city map room as Eris makes one final search. On her way back to Mount Cavora, she experiences another vision of the panther and the floating mountains destruction. Just as Leonidas and Lennox finish cleaning up the lion city after the Hunters attack, the eagle crashes into the throne, destroying the lion statues.

Eris finds Laval and Flinx in the market and tells them of her vision. Laval insists that they must first find Li'ella, which means going to the Hunter's tunnels and that they must first talk to Tormak.

At the crescent outpost, Tormak grieves for Li'ella as he looks over the phoenix artifact map. Fluminox tries to comfort him and reminds the tiger of when he reassured him of his decision to not take part in the prior Illumination.

At the bottom of the Gorge of Eternal Depth, the Hunters are hard at work repairing their vehicles. Stealthor reports to Sir Fangar that construction on a new ice fortress has begun and that it will be strong enough to attack Mount Cavora. Sir Fangar reminds him that they must deal with the one thing that could stop their quest; another illumination. Because it is far too dangerous for the Hunters themselves to retrieve it, Sir Fangar tells Stealthor that he plans to use blackmail to obtain the artifact. We later see Tormak, who is tracking down Li'Ella, when he encounters Sir Fangar at the top of a cliff. Tormak chases after Sir Fangar for a while, until Sir Fangar blackmails Tormak with Li'Ella's necklace. The Tiger asks what Sir Fangar wants, and the Saber-tooth Cat lists off the Phoenix child (Flinx), domination over Chima, and a supportive queen (Li'Ella). For now, however, Sir Fangar demands the map to the fire wings. He offers the Tiger Li'Ella in return for the artifact, leaving on "Unless you steal the artifact for me, you will never ever see your daughter again. The choice is yours, 'Tunnel Cat'." This infuriates Tormak, and Sir Fangar reaches Stealthor, reassuring him "By the sound of it, we shall have the artifact in no time!"

We then cut to the Spiral Mountain, where Maula, Mottrot, Vardy, Voom Voom, and Vornon are seen preparing for the wedding. Maula questions Vardy on the choice of location "You really want the wedding up here? Someone is bound to see us, and our prisoner." Vardy confronts the Mammoth, claiming "The king and queen of the hunters cannot get married in some dark cave!" He goes on with what the wedding will require to be a "royal dynasty." Mottrot questions the design of the Li'Ella figure on the cake asking "Is the bride on the cake supposed to look so irritated?" and Vardy claims that it is simply how Li'Ella appears, as she demands to be released. Maula still believes they will be spotted, telling the Vulture "I still think we're an easy target up here.", but Vardy tells her they're staying put, much to Maula and Mottrot's displeasure. Vornon and Voom Voom then arrive with explosive ice-plants as a substitute for bouquets. The two vultures set them down on the table, and Vornon's explodes, sending him flying four yards back. He then comments "Now I see why people cry at weddings." Overhead, Razar spots the five, and goes off to inform the others.

Back at the cresent, Tormak is with Lundor for guard duty. Tormak grabs Li'Ella's guarding weapon, and takes a good look at it, and goes into some somber trance. Lundor wonders if Tormak is okay, shaking his paw in front of the Tiger, but nothing. We then enter a series of flashbacks of Tormak rescuing Li'Ella from the hunters thousands of years ago. We also see Tormak taking her in and becoming a surrogate father for the Lioness. At one point we see the Tiger give her an amulet. (The one Sir Fangar had earlier.) We also see Li'Ella presenting him with a drawing of her and her dad, and it seemed to touch Tormak. There also scenes of the two having fun together play-fighting and on guard-duty. The flashbacks end with Sir Fangar targeting Li'Ella with a telescope. Tormak begins crying, looks at the picture Li'Ella drew, and requests Lundor to be excused for a moment. Tormak appears in front of the fortress. He thinks aloud "This is a mistake. A terrible, awful, unforgivable mistake, but I can't bear the thought of not seeing Li'Ella again.", then waves an orb of fire chi to signal the hunters. Stealthor and a random Saber-tooth Cat spot the signal, and go for reinforcements.
