Thomas is a tank engine and is the main character of the Thomas & Friends series and the DUPLO merchandise.

Background

Thomas is based off of an LB&SCR E2 class steam loco, which no longer exsist. When he first worked on The Island of Sodor, he acted as a station pilot, taking the task of moving coaches and trucks around the yards. As time passed, he was transfered to another station, before finally being given his own branchline. Other engines, like Toby and Percy would come to his line later on, to help with his freight work.
