Official Description
CHIMA is frozen over. Its only hope of salvation is the eight Fire Wings - but the only map to their locations has been destroyed. With Sir Fangar and the Ice Hunters marching on the Lion City and Mount Cavora, all hope seems lost; however, the heroes have seen something in the Outlands that may enable them to turn the tide.
Synopsis
Fluminox opens with an ominous monologue on how Chima is now completely frozen over by the Hunters, reflects on their prior dealings with this threat, and how they were stopped by the Great Illumination. The phoenix king reminisces about the fact that the map to the Fire Wing Harnesses, the items needed to trigger the Illumination, has been destroyed. Lamenting his failure to protect the land, Fluminox states that what will happen next will be considered the greatest of the Legends of Chima.
In the Outlands, Laval, Eris, Cragger, and Li'ella follow Lavertus towards the mysterious light, which turns out to be Tormak releasing the artifact energy now burned inside of him. He then Chis-up, revealing the map to the artifact is now part of his essence. Lavertus quickly jots it down and they all set off to the first pair of fire wings.
Meanwhile, Sir Fangar’s ice fortress continues towards the Lion City at an alarming rate due to the mammoth’s pulling it. The leader of the Hunters gloats that he will soon take Mount Cavora, forever securing his icy grip on the land of Chima.
The heroes arrive at the first location on the map; the claw stones at the foot of the eagle spires. Tormak reveals that it is a phoenix security system and uses the power of the artifact to activate it. A wild chase ensures as they try to chase after the wings which keep moving, but eventually Eris figures out that chasing it is futile and thinking like a phoenix, soars to the center of the rock formation. As she receives the fire wings, a large burst of light is sent forth, drawing the attention of Sir Fangar, who sends Mungus and Mottrot to investigate.
With one pair of fire wings down, the six heroes split up to find the others. Yet before they depart, they are interrupted by Lagravis’s distress roar. At the Lion City, Longtooth reports that the Hunters are moving much faster and are in sight of the city.
By daybreak, the Hunter fortress is feet away from the Lion City, but the other tribes on their way to help, except for the bears who are still sleeping. The lion guards attempt to defend the city, but they are no match for the ice, which crumbles the outer wall of the city with ease.
On their way to the Grand Archway for the next fire wing, Laval and Lavertus notice the explosions coming from the lion city and Laval attempts to head there instead but is stopped by his uncle. Though the lion prince protests, Lavertus manages to convince him to carry on with the mission at hand while he returns to the city to help. Laval reluctantly agrees and heads to the Grand Archway to start searching for the Fire Wings.
Meanwhile, Eris and Cragger arrive at Spiral Mountain, another location of the Fire Wings. By flying around the mountain, Eris causes it to drill into the ground, where Cragger finds the second pair of fire wings.
Back at the Lion City, Lagravis rallies the lion guards and engages in hand-to-hand combat against the Hunters as they flood into the city. Lavertus joins the battle and has a short reunion with his brother. The battle begins to heat up as the other tribes arrive and the phoenixes deploy Tiger Strikers using the ‘'Blazing Bastion’’. Overwhelmed by the reinforcements' firepower, the Hunters retreat inside the fortress, where Sir Fangar decides to unleash their secret weapon; the fourth Hunter tribe. His commanders protest - stating that the fourth tribe is uncontrollable - but Fangar is unmoved, and the vultures depart to carry out the task.
Back at the Grand Archway, Laval is confronted by Mottrot and Mungus and engages the two mammoths. Using his club, Mungus destroys the center of the arch, revealing the next pair of fire wings. Laval dives into the canyon to retrieve them, but is saved by Cragger in his new helicopter.
Meanwhile, the vultures enter the Gorge of Eternal Depth to find the final tribe of Hunters; the Ice Bears. They begin throwing Chi into the ice to awaken them, but the regular Bear tribe senses this through their dreams. As they stir, Bladvic takes off his crown, revealing war paint, and angrily declares, "Nap time...over!"
