30053 Republic Attack Cruiser is an mini Star Wars set released in 2011. The set includes one microscale model of a Venator-class Star Destroyer. It was released free with The Sun on October 8, 2011.

Description

The Republic Attack Cruiser is built mainly out of Medium Stone Grey pieces, with some Dark Red representing the Republic, Dark Stone Grey and Transparent Light Blue ones for the engines. It appears to roughly consist of two sections; the engines, bridge and the back of the "hangar bay" wings are all around the same area. The engines are four dark grey tubes with transparent light blue 1x1 studs on the tip for the fire in the back. The bridge rises above the ship and is represented by a binoculars piece. A triangular indentation on each side separates the back section from the front and gives the ship a unique appearance.

Background

The Venator-class Star Destroyers are the flagships of the Republic fleet. They measured a massive 1,137 meters long and were able to carry 190 V-Wing or V-19 Torrent starfighters, 192 Jedi Interceptors and at least 36 ARC-170 starfighters. The Star Destroyer could also carry several Republic Gunships.

The Star Destroyers were designed mainly for space combat, with heavy turbolasers and wide hangar bays to release ships. The ship could also open at the middle, splitting the dark red streak that went through it, to accommodate large or important ships. The Venator-class could also land on the surface of a planet to deploy troops and ground vehicles. When the Republic was transformed into the Galactic Empire, These cruisers were replaced by the Imperial Star Destroyers.

• This is the third LEGO model of a Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser and the second miniature version.
