4183 The Mill is a Pirates of the Caribbean set that was released in April 2011.

Description[edit | edit source]

Mill: The mill is a well-known scene from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Dead Man's Chest. The mill structure is built in the 16th century European style, and consists of a tower, along with a one-story extension on the bottom. The entire construct is open-walled in the back, offering great playability. The tower itself is three stories tall (although with only one playable floor), and has a bell hanging from the roof. On the first level, the largest one, there are two parts. One is inside the tower section, and is devoid of any details save a ladder extending to the second level. An arched doorframe, without a door, leads to the front of the tower. A small window peeks out of the tower wall on one side. The other part is located in the small extension to the tower, and contains a bottle and a barrel of fish. Two small windows lead to the front of the extension. The front of the first level is decorated in the front with some plants and vines, to achieve the appearance of an aged building. Printed bricks, as well as textured dark grey columns, achieve a stony appearance. Above the extension, a brown textured slope suggests a wooden roof covering the extension.

On the second floor, which is centred only on top of the tower extension, there is a small, flat, playable area. On it is located a bucket and little else. A view into the empty insides of the tower is afforded through a gap between the two sections. The half-roof of the tower extension peaks on the side of the second level. On the outside of the tower, more textured pillars and printed bricks give a stony effect, and a small window is located on the side of the tower.

The rest of the tower consists mostly of more stonework, as well as some vines and two high arched windows near the roof. The suggestion of an arched roof is achieved with a set of skeleton rafters placed on the very top of the building, and there are two more windows on each side of the tower. A golden bell is suspended from a beam on this level, and is attached via a string to the bottom level. This string can be pulled, allowing the bell to be "rung".

Located to the far side of the entire building are two tall stone pillars built on either side of a small river. These pillars are relatively thick, and are textured with stonelike prints and brick textures. At the top of both pillars is a wedge, meant to hold a massive waterwheel. At the base of the far pillar, a lever mechanism is placed to allow the waterwheel to be jostled out of position and sent rolling away, per a scene in the movie on which the set is based.

Wheel: The waterwheel, a highlight of the set, is built with mostly brown parts, suggesting a wooden construction. 16 sections, joined together with hinges,[1] form the circular shape of the wheel. It uses a very similar design as the Castle set, 7041 Troll Battle Wheel. Four spokes in the middle hold the shape together. Two thinner projections on either side of the centre of the wheel make it able to be placed upon the stone pillars, in order to serve it's function as a waterwheel.
