5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit was released in August 2009 as part of the Space Police III line. Included are two Skull Twins and a Space Police III Officer Minifigure.

- Next to the gas cap, the quote "I ♥ insectoids" can be seen.
- This set was designed by Mark Stafford, and the sketch model was made by Adam G, who also calls himself MisterZumbi. The 'license plate' on the Skull Interceptor probably is a reference to this.
- This set is featured in a LEGO Space Police commercial, along with the Galactic Enforcer, Freeze Ray Frenzy, and the Space Truck getaway sets.
- The Skull Twins' vehicle is seen in 2854298 The Adventures of Clutch Powers as a space pizza delivery vehicle.
- This set was included in the Product Collections set 2853300 Space Police Collection.
