6487 Mountain Rescue is an Outback set released in 1997. It contains a helicopter and a small tool rack.

The helicopter was based on a smaller design than most, but included a grappling hook. The hook was a 1x2 piece connected to a string. Below was a variety of tools placed on a small, common baseplate, including a chainsaw, a pick-axe, and many others, as well as some brick-built barrels.

- Unusual for LEGO helicopter designs, this set featured a cockpit that was completely closed, where as most have openings on the sides of the windows.
