6873 Spider-Man's Doc Ock Ambush is a Super Heroes set released on July 23, 2012 as part of the Marvel subtheme.
Description[edit | edit source]
The set contains Doc Ock's lab, with Iron Fist trapped on a rotating table. The set also includes a small vehicle with flick fire missles for Doc Ock. There is a glass tower with fan, rows of computers and lab equipment, and a small prison pod. The lab appears to be in a cave, with Spider-Man swinging from the top to rescue Iron Fist.

Rescue Iron Fist from Doctor Octopus' laboratory!
Scheming Doctor Octopus has captured Iron Fist and is conducting experiments on him, trying to steal his superpowers. Help Spider-Man sneak in through the air vent and swoop down on Doc Ock to release Iron Fist! Then stop the wicked doctor from fleeing on his missile-firing car!

The set is loosely based on the episode "Me Time".
In the episode, after a fight with Whirlwind, Spider-Man insists to Nick Fury that he doesn't like being monitored all the time and requests a day off of S.H.I.E.L.D. watching him. However, Norman Osborn tells Doc Ock that if he doesn't get results by sundown, he's pulling the plug. While Spidey is enjoying himself at an amusement park, Doc Ock attacks and subdues him. Spider-Man wakes up in Doc Ock's lab, breaks free, and fights Ock. He found out Ock's lab was under the East River, contacted Fury, and beat Ock. Norman Osborn then fired Doc Ock and blew up his lab to avoid S.H.I.E.L.D. tracing Ock to him. Fury got Spider-Man out but Ock was presumed dead as S.H.I.E.L.D. couldn't find his body.
Iron Fist was in the episode briefly but is not kidnapped, as Ock was after Spider-Man. In the episode Ock doesn't have a getaway car or a logo. The lab has a few differences, there is no tower with a vent, the main computer is missing, the table is different, and the container has a different design. The lab was also underwater, not in a cave.
