8299 Search Sub w/CDROM is a pneumatic TECHNIC set of a submarine which also includes a CD with extra building instructions. The American version of this set, 8250 Search Sub, did not include the CD. The set has one pneumatic cylinder which operates the submarine's arm, allowing it to move and grasp. The set also features an air tank, which when full allows the cylinder to be operated many times without using the pump. The cockpit of the submarine can open, allowing the pilot and his 'scooter' to enter and leave. As well as a minifigure, the set includes SCUBA gear for the figure. The CD includes instructions for six more models and TECHNIC building tips.

The alternate model is also a submarine, though of a less standard design.
