9396 Helicopter is a TECHNIC set released in 2012. It consists of a large model of a red and yellow TECHNIC helicopter. The helicopter has spinning main and tail rotors, working winch, and the main rotor blades can be tilted. It's recommended for people aged 10 through to 16.
The gear controls the landing gear that goes up and down, the rear hatch that also goes up and down (opposite the landing gear) and the working winch.
The side doors slide open.

- The main and tail rotor blades are new pieces.
- Capable of accepting power functions.
- The landing gear and tail ramp are connected- when the landing gear raises, the ramp opens, and when the ramp closes, the landing gear lowers. They cannot both be open or closed at the same time without modification.
