Akamai is a BIONICLE model introduced in 2001. It can be created from the pieces of the sets 8531 Pohatu, 8532 Onua and 8534 Tahu. Its instructions were split between the instructions of these three sets.

History

Akamai was a Toa Kaita formed when Toa Mata Tahu, Pohatu and Onua merged into one being. When these three Toa became the Toa Nuva, they gained the potential to merge into the upgraded Toa Nuva Kaita Akamai Nuva.

When Toa Mata Gali was knocked unconscious in a battle against Rahi, Akamai and his brother Wairuha appeared to her in a vision, informing the Toa of their imminent arrival.

After the Toa Mata entered Mangaia, they fused into the Toa Kaita. Akamai and Wairuha, went in separate directions, intending to meet up again at Makuta Teridax's chamber. The Toa Kaita each encountered many Manas, Teridax's powerful Rahi guardians, and the two were driven together again and surrounded. Looking around the chamber, the Toa Kaita spied energy towers around the chamber which supplied heat to the Manas. Together they destroyed the towers, rendering the Manas slow and sluggish and weakening them enough for Wairuha to freeze them into submission. Akamai and Wairuha acknowledged their mutual dependence on their unity, and the massive beings proceeded into Teridax's inner chamber, where his destructive energies forced them apart into the Toa Mata once more.

Abilities and Traits

Akamai, like the Toa that comprised him, had the Elemental Powers of Fire, Stone, and Earth. He could wield these in any combination.

Akamai Nuva would have enhanced Elemental Powers were he to be formed.

Mask and Tools

Akamai wore the Kanohi Aki, the Great Mask of Valor, which gave him the Kanohi powers of Shielding, Speed, and Strength. He wielded a Fire Sword in one hand, and a club in the other.

Akamai Nuva would not have access to the abilities of the Adaptive Armor.
