Post your requests for bot tasks below. They will then be reviewed by a BAG member for feasibility. There is an archive of past requests here.
Requests[edit source]
' and ’[edit source]
- I think due to the import, most of our pages with apostrophes have come with ’, ie, the wrong one (should be '). Is there any way to get a bot to go around and check if any pages which haven't already been fixed need to be moved? (also, it should preserve the redirect- I've noticed with at least two pages that have been moved that for some reason, about half the pages link to the page with ’ in the title, and about half with '). Thanks, NovaHawk 23:19, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- All I know I could possibly do is have MeikoBot replace it in the page content (and maybe add each that it's replaced something in to a category), but I'll look into it more. --ToaMeiko (talk) 23:24, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- Is this still an issue? CJC95 (talk) 20:08, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- I don't think so, but there's no real way I can think of to check it NovaHawk 22:45, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
Remove categories from minifigure articles[edit source]
- Can all the "Minifigures introduced in <year>" categories be removed from articles, as they're now done automatically (and should be "figures" anyway)? I would ask for the themes as well, but there are a number of minifigures that appear in multiple themes, so it'd probably be easier just to do that manually. NovaHawk 05:19, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

- Currently processing all the 14000+ pages including in (recursively). 1000 in and no results so far, so either my regex is wrong (I don't think it is as I tested it) or someone did it already. Will update when it gets to zero. CJC95 (talk) 20:37, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- Done. CJC95 (talk) 22:53, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- So, I stopped with 2000 pages left, but either this was already done or dealt with, or its on so few pages that I somehow managed not to find it on 12000 articles. CJC95 (talk) 22:53, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Change grammar tense[edit source]
Any articles that have "to be released in xxxx" (xxxx being any year before 2016, such as 2013, 2014 and 2015) should be replaced with "released in xxxx" SamanthaNguyen (talk) 14:20, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- Regex: /to be (released in \d\d(0\d|1[0-5]))/gi Seaside98 (talk) 02:55, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not familiar enough with regex to know how to avoid replacing the date instead of just the "to be released". I will try to look it up, or just cheat and find and replace "to be released" in just the recent year categories (2015, 2014) etc. CJC95 (talk) 13:59, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- You'll also have to remove whatever template that marks the set as a future set. :P SamanthaNguyen (talk) 14:21, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

- Forget everything talked about above, now with the help of brilliante NovaHawk, we have a template called Template:Release :D It changes the grammar tense based on the value given (it compares it to
{{CURRENTYEAR}}
and then outputs the correct tense for the release phrase). Would a bot be able to change the articles to use this template? SamanthaNguyen (talk) 04:45, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
Check for dead/outdated external links[edit source]
It'd be wise to check for outdated or dead external links.
- This PyWikiBot script appears to do this: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Pywikibot/weblinkchecker.py
- On a similar note, we could run a script to check for any remaining references to Wikia on Brickipedia.
