Bots for Approval is the page and system where users/bot operators can submit bot proposals to get their bots approved and given bot flags.

Instructions for bot operators

I Before applying for approval You will need to create an account for your bot if you haven't already done so. Click here when logged in to create the account, linking it to yours. Decide one or more task your bot will preform, and list them on under a new user sub-page on your bot account (Example: User:ExampleBot1/BfATasks). II Filing the application Enter your bots name (followed by (A), (B) etc if your bot has had more than one BfA) in the box below and click the button. Then fill out the template ({{BfA}}) as followed, |tasks= is where you put the page name of your bots task list. |botname= is where you enter your bots username, |op= is where you enter the Bot Operator's Username, normally, this should be the filler of the BfA. |date=, you should enter ~~~~~. III During the approvals process During Stage One of the approval process, you should wait for a Bot Approval Group member to comment or vote on your BfA, and answer any questions, leaving them in the comment section. If not BAG member has edited your BfA in 7 days, contact them on their talk page. If your bots proposed task is complicated, it will go through to a community vote (Stage 2), and then your bots destiny will be decided. If your bot is told to trial run, ({{BfA/Trial}}) you should run the bot slowly on a small amount of pages, then report back to the Trial Run section of your BfA. Leave 3 URLs to pages your bot has edited correctly, also all the ones the bot has made problems with. If your bot causes problems sometimes during the test run, the BAG group will try and help you debug those problems depending on the software. If this happens, you will have to re-trial your bot. The final approval will be given quickly after your trial run, if it has passed your bot will receive its bot flag, if it fails, it will not be given a bot flag, and will be not allowed to edit until your re-submit a new BfA. IV After the approvals process If your bot was given a bot flag, you are then allowed to continue preforming any tasks that were approved in your BfA. If you have additional tasks you would like to run, you should follow the instructions on the Task Approval page.
