Brickipedia:Christmas contest 2014

From Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

Brickipedia is holding a Christmas contest in association with The LEGO Group, who are generously supplying the prizes. To enter, you will need to create a LEGO Christmas scene.

Eligible entries:

  • Must have a registered Brickimedia account. If you do not have an account, you can sign up here.
  • Must have at least one photograph of the set. For the judges to better judge your entry, it's better if you take multiple photos from various angles. To upload images to our site, please click here. If you need assistance adding it to your entry page, leave a comment below and/or come ask us in our chatroom.
  • While you are free to use Flickr, Brickshelf or other image hosting services, it is recommended that you have a valid page on Brickimedia Customs. If you are unsure of how to create a valid page, administrators on Brickipedia or Brickimedia Customs will be more than happy to assist. Leave a comment below or ask for assistance in our chatroom.
  • To be counted, you need to leave a comment below linking to your entry.
    • If you wish to link to a page on Brickimedia Customs, you can simply copy/paste the URL, or use [[c:name of your page here]].
  • Must use official LEGO elements (TECHNIC, Mindstorms, DUPLO, etc. are acceptable), but contestants will be disqualified if bricks from clone brands are used. Digital renderings and LEGO Digital Designer projects will be accepted, though actual photographs are preferred.

The contest will run from November 26 to 0:00 December 15 (UTC), and results will be posted some time after, with winners also notified on their talk pages. Any entries submitted after this time will not be considered for judging, and any changes made to customs after the closing date will not be counted.

Two winners will be selected by a panel of three judges, and winners will each receive a small prize.

If you have any questions or require any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact an administrator.

Results[edit source]

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to the lack of entries, third place will receive a prize too! The third place prize will be 40084 Accessory Pack donated by ToaMeiko. Everyone's a winner. :)

Congratulations to all who entered, the judges had a really hard time separating the entries. Please email ToaMeiko or send him a private message in Special:Chat to work out shipping your prize (required information: full name, shipping address).

Well in that case then I have an idea for the contest....

We do a BIONICLE MOC contest like the Battle for the Gold Mask competition, where users have to create the best ice-themed villain they can.

Wouldn't that make users buy the ice set, which would make the prize pointless :p Prizes don't necessary have fit in with the contest, any prize we can get we have to make do with.

I was going to say what Soup said but she beat me to it. :P Also the Protector of Ice will by no means need to be a grand prize item. The only reason we went with something so small for this last contest was it was all we could fit into our remaining budget. Come 2015 we'll have a fresh slate to work from. :)

I like Brikkyy's idea, except the point of this contest is kind of to use what leftover budget we have, because otherwise we don't get to use that €9.99.

Other options would be various magnets and key chains, those ornament things, Friends animals, Star Wars Micro Fighters, 60032 Arctic Snowmobile, 70610 Riverside Raid, and 850939 Santa Set.

I'd go for 850939, myself. Its a suitable replacement for the magnet, and possibly more desirable.

key chains are a good idea. Also, BZP is giving away some of the chima ultra builds that weren't released in North America. Not sure what their RRP is but there's an idea.

I think it's a little much, unless we want to go back on our promise of two winners (which I don't). I like that idea too, but the appeal might not be there for a lot of other people.

@Brikkyy13: If they're in stock then we should be able to get the 2015 Bionicle sets now. We can go the route of key chains as well. Also the Chima ultrabuilds would be too expensive to fit in the remaining budget. Let's put up a vote:

  • 2015 Bionicle Protectors
  • Key chains
  • Polybags
  • Ornament things
  • Friends polybags
  • Star Wars micro-fighters
  • 60032 Arctic Snowmobile
  • 70610 Riverside Raid
  • 850939 Santa Set

The general consensus seems to be protectors (and I'm pretty sure Meiko likes that idea too, because psychology). Which protector are we going to give away? I say either Ice, Jungle or Water because the colors are gender neutral (I know that there's only 3 entrants that don't really care about it but a 4th one could get all up in arms over receiving the protector of fire).
avatar

BerrybrickLegendary Brickipedian

I'm not sure what you mean about a fourth entrant. We would only get two.

I don't see what girls would find off putting about red or black (brown, maybe, but that doesn't seem like a popular color with boys either). If anything it would be the swords, blasters, and broad shoulders.
