The latest LEGO Ideas review is over and one set is being produced - the one that wasn't in the review, but a leftover from last time. That means less to "Female Minifigure Set", or as its now known, "Research Institute", is being produced. The rename is no doubt an attempt to avoid alienating the key 6-12 year old boy demo, who won't buy something with female in the title in case it gave them cooties.

The other projects all failed, and are to be cast into the ever growing pit of ideas that people got really excited over, only to have their dreams cruelly crushed. These are Macross, Zelda, Japanese architecture, Sherlock, Adventure Time and the UCS BTTF DeLorean.

To see a video of someone announcing this like its the finals of the X-Factor, see the LEGO Ideas blog.

I'm glad this won against all those random licenses. There aren't nearly enough unlicensed submissions, let alone products.

It's not that CUUSOO Ideas doesn't know what people want, it is a crowdsourcing platform. :P And to be honest, this was the project from this review I was most interested in. I guess that Zelda would have been nice, but there was no way that would have passed when it has failed twice already. Anyway, what I am trying to say is one man's trash is another man's treasure.

LEGO Ideas just don't know what we want. I agree with Nova, too. The female set for me isn't very appealing to me. I love the ideas for more sets with female figures - but this won't make money, regardless of them turning into a Research Institute. Watch it plummet down to the sale zone on LEGO shop at home pretty soon.

I had hopes for Sherlock and Adventure Time, but it just wasn't meant to be. Oh well. I think LEGO Ideas is not going to last much longer. Most users just submit a few things: Minecraft fail and copy sets; Licenses like Zelda that are too reliant on new molds; Bad to mediocre custom SW and SH sets; and of course the rare, great, original design and moc.

...and another Zelda project gets rejected. Lame. They should stop accepting Zelda projects for submission, it's obvious they're not going to pass one and all they're doing is getting people's hopes up for nothing.

Sherlock didn't pass? Agh, that one looked good.
