And so it is over, LEGO has officially cut ties with Shell and has stated they will not renew their partnership with the oil company. Many eco-activists had begged The LEGO Group to cease working with Shell to save the Arctic, and it seems they listened. What do you think of this huge news?

Show me an oil company that isn't evil, please. :P If you want plastic, it's a necessary evil.

Are we suggesting that a oil company is evil purely because it sells oil?

I'm pretty sure there's a type of plastic made out of corn that's almost identical to ABS.

Sad to see LEGO caving in, especially after the juvenile way that Greenpeace went about the whole thing :/

Shell did nothing for LEGO. Sure, LEGO caved in. But there's no consequence of it.

...and that LEGO is hoping to make all their bricks from non-oil related plastic by 2020 (If I remember correctly)

^ Well that's an interesting proposal, not sure how they'd accomplish that so soon though.

LK is right (I could dig up our article about it if anyone wants too) but at the moment the millions of pieces they produce are made from oil, so it is kind of an important resource, even in matters where brick production isn't concerned, such as shipping.
