Captain Marvel, formerly Ms. Marvel, is the alias of Carol Danvers.
Background
Working for NASA as head of security, Carol was caught up in the schemes of the Kree Empire. She then befriended Mar-Vell, a Kree soldier. During a battle between Yon-Rogg and Mar-Vell, Carol was knocked into a damaged Kree Psyche-Magnitron. This altered her genetic structure, making her a half-Kree superhuman. She was unaware of this change for months.
