Background
A dangerous group of thugs poured acid on the trapeze of a circus the night of one of one the acrobat family "the Flying Graysons" to scare the circus' owner into paying them for "protection against accidents" like what happened to the acrobats' trapeze, but, the youngest of the Grayson family survived and was found by Bruce Wayne who adopted him. Soon after the adoption Bruce showed Dick his true identity as Batman and helped him put the crooks behind bars, and in doing so Dick earned the right to fight alongside Batman as Robin, but when Dick got older, he became Nightwing.
