Background
Long before the days of the Caped Crusader, when the Green Lantern Alan Scott was protecting Gotham, the long dead crime leader Solomon Grundy returned from the dead, and retook his position as head of a crime family. The Green Lantern battled him, but it took a particularly long time before he bested the crime boss, because of his inability to control organic items (mostly because Grundy was bonded with vegetation and decaying plant matter)
Later, in the The Batman series, The villain Clayface (in this universe, clay face is GCPD's Ethan Bennet), turned into Solomon Grundy on Hallow's Eve.
