Comment: Release complete --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:19, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Hey everyone,

So I've been writing an outline of what we will be going through over the next few months in preparation for Brickimedia's public release, and there are a couple of things that will need to be adjusted in how we will "resume" our activities. If you haven't seen, I made a PDF document of the different phases, and what I expect to be done during each phase. Some of the things for release I feel need to be opened for discussion. Here are some of those things

  • Status of the board – who will be elected when Brickimedia is publicly released? How long will their term be? I think we should get as many of those who were previously elected (if we remember who all that was), give them an entire term of a year, and any seats that the previously voted-upon board that are left empty due to the position-holder no longer being able to have the time or willingness to be on the board, a vote can be held for those seats.
  • Advertising on Wikia – Wikia probably won't let us advertise to the extent we did last time. If I got globally blocked for answering a few questions on talk pages, I doubt we'll be able to pull off much. Maybe we have to stick to user pages, or maybe they'll let us at least make a forum. If we can't advertise there, we'll have to rely solely on spreading the word to users on Wikia chat, and on external LEGO news/blog sites.
  • Global user rights – when Brickimedia was disrupted by the loss of the server earlier this year, there was discussion on what global user rights there will be, how they will be voted on, etc. This still needs to be addressed.
  • LMBW – we need to keep in touch with them to an extent, at least with their admins, and see if they have any plans to move back, and how soon that may be if they do have plans. I've heard mixed opinions from their entire community recently.
  • Internationalisation? – Should we see about getting an internationalised Brickipedia on the Brickimedia network? fr.brickimedia.org would be doable, and potentially active. Once we release, I'll keep an eye on where our traffic is coming from and other demographics to see what, if any, internationalised wikis would be worthwhile any time soon.

If anybody has any other things that will need to be done, please add them. Please also give your opinions on what I've listed above. :) Thanks, ToaMeiko (talk) 00:01, 21 September 2013 (EDT)

  • I think it'd be great to get some wikis in other languages up and running as soon as possible provided we have the editors/audience for it. Does anything need to be done before the final release in regards to the negoations with TLG? As for advertising on Wikia, since they've pretty much done a corrupt Ministry of Magic on us and put a Taboo on the word "Brickimedia", I don't think we'd have much luck there... • I can take care of anything with the LEGO group in November/December. --ToaMeiko (talk) 11:36, 21 September 2013 (EDT)
      • If we could hold off on them ever supporting the wikia wiki (even though it would only be for a month or two based on the outline) that might be nice. Berrybrick (talk) 13:38, 21 September 2013 (EDT)
        • They won't be; they wouldn't until 2014 anyways, and Kim said he'd follow up about the whole thing in November, in which it will be determined that Brickipedia is officially moving off Wikia. --ToaMeiko (talk) 14:21, 21 September 2013 (EDT)
