Out of curiosity, how are we going to do user rights on meta? Previously we were doing it in the method of where any project's admins would have adminship on meta, and likewise for the other user groups, but I've realised that eventually there will be way more sysops and whatnot on meta than there would need to be. Many project admins and other rights-holders really don't need the same rights on meta. --ToaMeiko (talk) 00:02, 25 October 2013 (EDT)

  • What would rights on Meta be needed for besides image deletions? Berrybrick (talk) 16:39, 25 October 2013 (EDT)
    • That, and any other management of meta as needed. --ToaMeiko (talk) 16:40, 25 October 2013 (EDT)
      • Last time, they were used to block spambots. I'm assuming that we're doing the board again, because that mostly eliminates the need. Still, I think it'd be nice for the community to choose one or two other admins to have sysop on meta. Maybe just the bureaucrats, or maybe there could actually be a local vote. I don't know that it's really needed for admins to have sysop on meta, but I don't think it'd really be that big of a deal, either. Drew1200 (talk)
        • There will also be the 'janitor' global user group, which will have the task of dealing with crosswiki spam and vandalism (I still like the sound of global sysop more than janitor :3). Since there is actually content on meta to contribute to (i.e. help pages, guides, documentation, etc), maybe the Request for Rights process could be used on meta like en has. --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:37, 25 October 2013 (EDT)
          • Sounds good having an RfR for global admin. As far as local admins on here, I don't really see the harm in giving admin to everyone who has admin on another wiki- if they can be trusted to run a wiki, they should be able to be trusted to delete an image here or there. A bit of overkill, but so what? It doesn't really matter on meta :S Or giving admin to 'crats only sounds good as well NovaHawk 19:24, 25 October 2013 (EDT)
  • The original rational for admins elsewhere having admin rights here was for spambot gblocking and image removal. It would make sense to keep that, though perhaps bureaucrat/checkuser rights don't need to transfer? On the other hand, transferring over all admin/bureaucrat/cu rights makes it really simple. • I don't think CU should transfer. I don't really care if bureaucrat transfers, but I'd lean towards saying no. Drew1200 (talk)
  • There's be a heck of a lot of crats if they all transferred, so I'd say only the most active from each wiki. --ToaMeiko (talk) 13:57, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
