A Great Eagle is a The Lord of the Rings creature that appears in the LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game. One also appears in 79007 Battle at the Black Gate and 10237 The Tower of Orthanc.

Background[edit | edit source]

During the Quest for reclaiming Erebor, the Great Eagles saved Thorin's Company from a group of Wargs and Orcs. Gwaihir, the leader of the Great Eagles made a brief appearance in the Battle of the Five Armies. He later saved Gandalf from the top of Orthanc and led him to Rohan. At the conclusion of the War of the Ring the Great Eagles fought with the Nazgûl's Fell Beasts and then flew with Gandalf and the other Eagles to Frodo and Sam rescuing them from Mount Doom, after they destroyed the Ring. The Great Eagles lived in the northern Misty Mountains, probably in the Eagles Eyrie.

The Great Eagles watch silently over Middle-earth but only show themselves in the absolute darkest of times to fight for the good of Middle-earth. As the Nazgûl attack at the big Battle at the Black Gate, the Eagles appear just in time to save the Fellowship, and witness the final downfall of Sauron.
